A lot of debate have been ongoing on the possibility of raising Birds(Broiler/Layers/Turkeys) using the Herbal Programme instead of the conventional method so I'd like to use this thread to dispel any fears people may be having towards this.

What is Organic Chicken?

Can chicken be organic?
Just because a chicken is labeled “organic” does not mean that the bird on your plate lived a bucolic farm life before you cooked it. ... To officially be called “organic,” the animal must be fed organic food (grown with no pesticides), receive no antibiotics and be given access to the outdoors.

Thus a true definition of an Organic chicken prequalifies that it must have access to free range

Since our broilers are raised in confinement though with Herbs, we can term them Broilers raised with Herbal Programme.

If you however have access to space and would like to free range them using this program then they are Organic Chicken

Let us start with the Herbal Program for Broilers for 7 weeks as created by Oluwafunmise Herbal

Poultry Herbal medicine Encyclopeadia
7 WEEKS HERBAL PROGRAMME
1 cup =240ml=340g
2/3 cup=227g
1/2 cup=120ml=170g
1/3 cup=113g
1/4 cup=85g
1/8 cup=43g=2 tbs

0-1 week-critical*

Early morning shot of Itagiri till 6weeks

Later serve below concoctions;

1 cup of garlic

I cup of ginger

1/4 cup of Turmeric

Half of 1/8 cup of cayenne pepper =1 tbs

Half of 1/8 cup of black pepper= 1 tbs

After blending all together, 30ml will go into a litre of water. Just give a little concoction that they will finish on time.

Serve ordinary water when they finish this. Little.
Every liquid in little portion.

In the evening serve bitter leaf, a low dose, 10-15ml in a litre of water after blending it.


2weeks
Repeat the process but skip a day or two of garlic/ginger/pepper to give fresh water only. Do not skip bitter leaf, continue with a low dose

3week
Repeat the process but don't skip bitter leaf in the evening. Increase the dose, like 20ml of bitter leaf to a litter of water.

4weeks
Repeat the process, don't skip bitter leaf, increase the dose to 30ml into a litre of water

5 weeks to end of 6weeks;
Basil/ginger/black pepper
340g of basil
340g of ginger
half of 1/8 cup of black pepper
half of 1/8 cup of cayenne pepper
*30ml into a litre of water
This is to ward off Fowl pox, fowl cholera, Bronchitis, Newcastle, E coli etc

In the evening,
you may serve just bitter leaf if you notice coccidiosis is still attacking them or you serve fresh water.

At the end of 6weeks weeks stop Itagiri

7 weeks, you may serve black pepper and cayenne to keep Newcastle in check. You may add aloe vera to the pepper or serve aloe vera alone in the evening. There is no herb-herb contraindications

The overdose of drugs and medications in poultry: Its detrimental effects on humans

A bird was recently bought from a nearby farm, and the color of the liver when slaughtered was something of concern! The nauseating colours and pigmentation on the liver shows that the drugs/ medications administered to the bird had a detrimental effect on the bird's health. ‎

The use of overdose of synthetic drugs are destroying the immune system of the animals, and as well causing life threatening illnesses like cancer to the consumers (humans). I'd love to beseech us to stop overdosage of medications for our birds. It builds up resistance of the combated diseases to these drugs and thereby emanating new strains of more powerful and deadly diseases with resistant abilities.‎

Although, the use of overdosage sometimes come from ignorance or perhaps negligence. Seeking adequate knowledge can help avert this! Consequently, migrating from inorganic farming to a healthy organic farming can also contribute to the reduction in over-reliance on synthetic drugs, thereby curbing or reducing overdosage of these drugs and as well improve animal welfare and consumer's health.
These drugs can be replace effectively with natural herbs such as
Moringa Oleifera, Neem leaf, scent leaf, Garlic, Ginger, Vinegar etc.
These herbs are all around us and can be used without the fear of adverse effect on either the birds or humans consuming their products.

For us in Africa, it's pertinent that we promote these natural resources to improve our lives and thereby making us live longer.
