What do these naija club teams do on the pitch whenever they play? They the whole 90 minutes enjoying the sun or what? In 18 games, no team has scored more than 24 goals!! shocked WTF! No wonder naija's major league hardly command any respectable number of crowd. What is a football game without goals?

The league table here, http://nigeriaff.com/localleague.php

because our league is still defensive and not opened to open play style of football.

If every through pass is punctuated by an assistant referee's flag, we surely wouldn't see many goals. I haven't even mentioned the bone-crushing tackles and bad pitches.

Man its true, alot of stadiums from some part of north and west are not worth it at all, i cant believe we have 3 good stadiums in lagos and no npl team is using them, its a pity.

Sharks of Port Harcourt has got a great pitch, they won their weekend match 5 : 0 against their opponent, that goes to prove that the pitches are one of the major reasons why our clubs are not scoring alot of goals.

poor coaching, not in tacics now(thats asking a primary school student calculus) but in basic soccer techniques like proper shooting, positioning and link-up play!!!, i refuse to believe it is ultradefensive, (cant be worse than the italian league)

there are so many reasons why strikers cant score more goals amongst it are;
*bad pitch

*rough tackles

*inexperience managing crew

*scandalous FA

*bad referreeing

*very little turn up of fan. etc alot need to be done to change things for better.

When tehy score many goals, like 45, you will say the league is cheap.

Anyway, I've also been wondering why the record highest score in a season is 17 goals.

they are not at the bottom of the table for your information, they are simply where they are because other teams come to port Harcourt to win them at home (taking advantage of the good pitch), and most of the away teams have better players than sharks.

In some cases, away teams deliberately refuse to score cos they know they may be lynched. The refs sometimes refuse to award goals especially to away teams cos they kno the outcome; battering.
Away wins are a rarity in our league and thats what really puts me off. The results are very predictable.

@ OP
Globacom has terminated its contract with NPL to sponsor the league. The league is simply NPL!

What do you expect from a team where the combine salaries of the players is not up to N1M in a month? Or where they travel by road for matches over night? The problem is much but the truth is that there are more good pitches now than they were 10 years ago. Imagine Globacom sponsoring the league to the tune of almost a Billion Naira and 80% of the sponsorship fees was spent on the NFL officials themselves instead of the teams. Imagine the winner of the league getting a meager N5M, why can't the league winner get N50M and highest goal scorer getting N5M.
Until the players are taken care off directly then we can get the best out of them.
Another issue is the so call coaches, they lack modern tactics and those that are tactically sound are handicapped with the low IQ of these players,

But i know talents abound in the league.

Yes, i think the league price should be increased to at least 20million naira and hgs should get 2million naira.

I agree with you, the NPL must ensure that all the team install standard pitch, it doesn't matter if it is plastics pitches
