The people of Afia-Eze area of Kwale the Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State was thrown into shock over the death of a popular hunter in the town.

Orient Daily learnt that the victim was shot dead by another hunter in Osemele bush known for rich reservoir of games. The suspect Mr. OnyekaDikachi, said he mistakenly shot his colleague thinking he was a monkey.

It was said that the deceased, identified as Mr. ChuksUsoro from Olomoro in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, had gone for a hunting exercise in the bush where he was murdered by his colleague.

The suspect said the victim appeared to him like a monkey, prompting him to shoot him but when he got closer, he discovered it was his colleague he shot in error and not a monkey.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Andrew Aniamaka, who confirmed the incident,said that the suspect killed the victim while hunting in the bush, adding that the suspect has been arrested while investigation is ongoing.

He maintained that the corpse of the victim has been deposited in a mortuary, pending the outcome of investigation, which would determine the next action to be taken.
