Left with no computers for practical lessons in his Information and Communication Technology class, a diligent Ghanaian school teacher, Owura Kwadwo Hottish, came up with an innovative way to bypass the problem. He took it upon himself to draw out the entire Microsoft Word window to explain the ‘features of a World Processing Window’ to his students.

Uploading the picture to his personal Facebook account with the hashtag #committedteacher #ICTontheboard #Teacherkwadwo , the 33 year old teacher had no idea the post would soon go viral on social media network, Twitter.

Posted by Twitter user Rebecca Enonchong (@africatechie) with a call to look for him, the picture of the school teacher gained over 1,500 retweets within 24 hours with a number of users stepping in to offer help to the diligent teacher.

She then tweeted at the official Microsoft Africa handle to help the teacher with ‘some proper resources’

48 Hours later, she got a response from Microsoft Africa with a promise to support the teacher with a device from one of their partners. Owura was also offered free professional development resources and access to Microsoft’s MCE (Microsoft Certified Educator) platform

If true, this is great.

Africa, a great and rich land continues to suffer perpetual disgrace from the hands of its political and appointed leaders.

Shame.
