7 Things To Consider Before Deciding An Institution

From playing in mud to wearing school uniform for the first time, giving board exams and then finally entering college, time indeed flies quickly. Then comes the time to make decisions; decisions that could make or break your life. And choosing an institution is one such life-changing decision, as it determines where you would end up in life.

And once you start following what you like or pick a stream that really interests you, choosing an institution amongst others becomes relatively easier. However, to make things even simpler, I have compiled a list of what you must consider before choosing an institution.

Believe me, these points are a must for a remarkable experience:

Education

One of the most important things to be valued in a college is the quality of education it provides. And not to mention, we must always have a knack for learning. Getting your degree might be a proof of your qualification, but being educated makes you confident about expressing your views and opinions. Before deciding a college you must research well about the quality of education and placements that the institution provides you with.

Infrastructure

You must also consider the infrastructure of your college as you have to spend the next three or four years there. A college with great infrastructure can definitely improve your overall experience. Infrastructure really improves the overall system of an institution and makes students, faculties, and other staff perform to their highest possible potential.

Library

A library is the backbone of an institution's educational environment. It's important to have a well-maintained library in your college, that must have a large collection of books from different fields. Your library experience shouldn't just be limited to the books in the curriculum as digital education has also become a part of the constantly changing education system. From maintaining digital documents to providing desktops to make research easier, many libraries have also modernised with time. To improve your performance at the institution, you must look at the type of library they have.

Hostel facilities

Another important aspect to consider before choosing an institution is to look at the dormitory or hostel rooms, where you would be staying. It's essential to find a place that makes you feel at ease, and has all the facilities to make all your time away from home comfortable.

Environment

It's important to know the type of environment a college provides, as better the environment, better will be your learning. A positive environment in the classroom will only enhance the learning opportunities for students. The environment of an institution shouldn't be taken lightly as it helps mould a student's personality.

Culture

A diverse culture at an institution offers more learning opportunities. You learn more about thoughts, behaviour of people, different languages, customs, festivals, and values. It all adds up to one's overall experience. An institution that is home to various cultures, religions, and races helps in nurturing a student's life. It is equally important to have multi-cultural activities in the institution to unify people.

Extra-curricular activities

Some people believe that extra-curricular activities distance students from education, however, this is not true.

Activities in college like sports, weight-training, dance, acting, etc., helps in grooming someone's personality. Not to mention, extra-curricular activities also help in relieving stress, increasing overall health and boost your self-confidence.

So which University do you think meet this criteria in Nigeria, at least by 70%. Both public and private.
