Suspected tout stabs wife to death

The police in Lagos have arrested a man described as a motor park tout, Ayodeji Oyetomi, for allegedly killing his wife, Lara Bamiyowa.

The incident was said to have occurred around 1am on Sunday at the woman's family house at 25, Bisiriyu Lawal Street, Shasha, Akowonjo, a Lagos suburb.

According to the deceased's brother, Mr. Femi Bamiyowa, the couple had been separated for about six years after they had given birth to three children.

Oyetomi, who was paraded before journalists by the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Frank Mba, in Lagos, on Monday, was said to have forcefully gained entry into the woman's room and stabbed her to death. The man was also said to have stabbed his daughter who was with his late wife at the time of the attack.

The suspect, who is said to be a tout at an unnamed motor park, however, was said to have remained at the scene until the brother of the deceased who heard the call for help arrived at her sister's room and found her in a pool of her blood. The family promptly alerted the police and the suspect was arrested.

In another related development, the Lagos State Police Command said it was on the trail of a woman, identified as Kate Obasi who allegedly stabbed her husband, Mr. Ifeanyi Obasi to death on Friday. Both were living at No 8 Sunny Close, Williams Estate, near Oke-oboba.

The woman was said have attacked her husband on the suspicion that the deceased impregnated another woman.

According to Mba, Kate has since fled and the police was on her trail.

Mba said, "Both cases are classical cases of aggravated domestic violence. If you leave with a partner, a relative or neighbor that had shown perennial signs of violence, there is the need for you to seek help and bring it to check before they lead to terrible and aggravated violence."
