I don't think he gave 'detailed medical assessment'
I thought he explained the scan report in 'common language', and proferred common sense counsel based on the report. He didn't examine the patient and then publish his finding in a public forum. I don't think what he did was unethical. If anything, he did well providing correct guidance.

It's not unethical per se, and I have detailed my concerns elsewhere on this thread, but it encourages our national proclivity for seeking shortcuts to our medical problems. Why not just take the scan to a doctor ?

As for relaxers and fibroids, all those websites did copy and paste (though they changed their fonts), the study was done around 1997, more than 20 years ago (looks outdated to me), NaOH (sodium hydroxide) is present in relaxers as well as some brands of shampoos and shower gels. Before you take the matter up, be informed that relaxer usage cuts across every race, even whites use it. Just reduce your relaxer use, keep to no-lye relaxers, check your cosmetics ingredients before you buy, that's all.

Drphemmy4u:
Sorry about your wife OP. The scan result says she has a pregnancy co-existing with fibroid.Yes fibroid is a threat to pregnancy however, once it has happened, patient should book pregnancy early and should ensure she is seen by a specialist (Obstetrician) for proper antenatal care. The baby can be carried to term successfully with the issues of fibroid in pregnancy anticipated and properly managed. In the case of your wife, the scan result says there is an 8-10weeks gestational sac with no embryo in it.This means the pregnancy is not viable. I will however advice you have a repeat scan at LUTH as a second opinion (you cant trust all scan results as ultrasound scan is operator dependent). She should be managed there. Wishing you and your wife the best.
exactly what i had in mind. But that impression should be anembryonic gestation. Repeat scan at a bigger hospital. If it says the same, they might ask her to come back in 2wks time to check d progress of the pregnancy.if the baby is still nt growing then she should agree to do an evacuation.I have seen a lot of women give birth with fibroid. bt hers is different cos the baby is not growing.

These kinda stories help ppl to learn how to solve their medical problems. Some ppl dont know where to go when they have this kind of problem. Op please tell us how this ended, what the docs at LUTH said and the final solution. people will learn from this.

Good morning. The scan result reads that there's a gestational sac and no fetus. That's a hyatidiform mole (a very rare non cancerous tumor). Its unfortunate that for cases like this there's a placenta or sac with little or no baby Growth wc turns out to be No baby at last cos babies can't thrive in that environment.
The abortion (dilatation and curettage is to evacuate the sac and contents) so as to prevent infection or bleeding and prepare the womb for subsequent pregnancies.
A second pelvic scan in luth should reveal more and the consultant will provide more answers and options for management. I wish you a favourable outcome and all the best. God is your Strength !!

To the glory of God again, the sixth month scan did not pick any fibroid again. The three fibroids disappeared. The doctors asked how possible?

Monthly scan afterwards show everything in good condition up to time of birth and the glory of God again the baby was delivered safely without any issue of any sort.

Please, I don't know your faith but I have a God who can make impossibilities possible. I have a Jesus who can alter negative doctors reports.

I find it difficult to believe your claim on the doctors asking how possible a uterine fibroid co-existing with an advanced pregnancy in the 2nd trimester disappears on radiologic imaging. This is a very plausible possibility that has a scientific basis and explanation, something which the average doctor expects may happen. This does not rule out the existence of miracles but you need to know why that may have happened.

While a fibroid may be a threat to pregnancy, an advanced pregnancy co-existing with a small uterine fibroid usually favours the growth of the former. The fibroid at this point is being starved of blood supply from competition from the growing baby and also the changing architecture of the uterus. It therefore undergoes what is called red degeneration (shrinking in layman's term)

And on the successful delivery, I believe that was handled by the doctors that have been termed "negative" in your post.

And I implore you to stop the believe that "Jesus alter negative doctor's report.

It's sad that doctors who do their jobs diligently within the confines of science and medicine as provided for by physical evidence and patient history have been regarded as the devil or the devil's henchman. Doctors are not magicians. They are scientists that work with facts and the real world; not spiritism. So when they tell a cancer patient or the relatives that a 5 year survival rate is the prognosis, the next thing you hear is "I rebuke the devil" and they go on to their churches and pastors to report that doctors have pronounced death on them and have prayer directed at the "doomsayers". And when they eventually give testimonies, you hear things like "the doctors said the delivery will be via Caesarean section but I rebuked it and my God turned their counsel into foolishness. A doctor provides scientific based facts and that does not make them the devil, rather it makes them the empathetic helper who prefers to be honest with you.

However if you require faith based pronouncements, a clergy is the way to go.

Fellow doctors am planning on being a surgeon but my hand writing is good. So I wanted to ask is it necessary to have a bad hand writing

I have a very beautiful handwriting which remains so at leisure and under light work. However when hard pressed under heavy workload, it evolves into mere scribblings on paper illegible to the uninitiated but very clear to the trained eye and understood clearly by the hive (which all have similar mind)

Your perception about my write up shows clearly you don't understand what I said. That you exhibited your little understanding of spiritual issues is not unexpected because you cannot use a canal reasoning to understand spiritual matters.

I did not demonize doctors in any way and neither will any Faith based preacher demonize doctors. Doctors are scientists buy God can chose to act beyond science if you call on him. And maybe you should read my post again. I opted for a spiritual solution to a scientific fact presented to me so what is the problem with that? Its my choice not yours.

I suggest you learn from it or ignore if you don't understand and don't want to understand rather than commit sin with your scientific analysis.

What may be seen as 'coexisting uterine fibroids' during pregnancy may in fact be focal myometrial contractions which wear out with time.
The pregnant lady may complain of dull Lower Abdominal Pains during that period.

It's a common error made by some sonographers worldwide.
This is usually attributable to lots of those fibroids that 'disappear'

OP do u have common sense at all. Why would you display your wife's confidential report on a public platform like Nairaland full of immature guys so as to get a free analysis for your wife. What kind of man are you that u cannot afford to pay a decent radiologist that can interpreted that scan result. What kind of broke as.s man are you. So if one drunk NL guy tells u something that could kill ur wife u will accept and do it.
You fall hand seriously.
Please get ur backside from ur chair and take ur wife to see gynecologist or obstetrician and stop playing with ur wife's life.
Men eh, most times u people are just fish brains.
I pity women seriously, be careful who u marry, cos ur life may depend on them.
Women be careful!

You are very daft. I keep saying over 95% of Nigerians just jump to silly conclusions without reading posts
