It is worrisome for IGP Idris to go on leave at this time of crisis - Reps lament

The House of Representatives Adhoc committee members are displeased with the commencement of annual leave by the inspector general of police, Ibrahim Idris

- The Adhoc committee members investigating a petition filed by DCP Abduyari Lafia against the IGP, faulted the leave because of security crisis rocking the country

- It stated that it had summoned the IGP on different occasions in respect of the petition, but the police boss was yet to appear

Douye Diri, the chairman, Adhoc committee investigating the 'purported harassment, intimidation and threat to life' leveled against the inspector general of police, Ibrahim Idris, by DCP Abduyari Lafia, has questioned the rationale behind the commencement of leave by the IG while there are security crises in the country, The Nation reports.

NAIJ.com gathered that following the petition sent by the DCP Lafia to the House, the House had invited the IGP, but was surprised that he could not appear at the hearing after two invitations sent to him.

Diri said: “It is worrisome for the president to grant three weeks leave to the IGP at this time that the country is experiencing crisis and the security situation is becoming very bad.”

According to the legal adviser to the IGP, the police boss embarked on three weeks leave following the approval President Muhammadu Buhari.

Members of the Adhoc committee expressed displeasure over the IGP’s attitude to the issue of security of lives and property.

The chairman of the Adhoc committee said: “The matter the committee is investigating has to do with corruption, harassment and threat to life, between a junior police officer and a senior police officer which when brought to the public domain is not good for the image, credibility and the integrity of the police institution."

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that the House of Representatives reportedly summoned the inspector general of police, Ibrahim Idris, over the alleged constant harassment of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, a political group loyal to the former governor of Kano state, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Just like Sule Lamido, the former governor of Jigawa state, Kwankwaso was believed to be eyeing the presidency and had been making consultations and building his team ahead of 2019.

The House also constituted an ad-hoc panel to investigate the real reasons the supporters of the former governor were being intimidated and harassed.

when we decided to elect an inept and incompetent president to lead us,simply because we felt that Jonathan is from a minority group,an Ijaw man for that matter, whom we choose to hate withlut justification. Nigeria is now a joke in the comity of nations,Wherever and whenever Nigeria is mentioned, sane nations use it for comic relief and yet we boast of having about the highest level of intellectuals in Africa.
Yet tribalism, nepotism and pronounced bitterness for others has blinded a whole nation. How do we explain this mess we got ourselves into? This is a big shame.
Imagine the clown that is the inspector general of police, very sectional, timid, unserious, corrupt, crude and unrefined, only in Nigeria is such obtainable.

They simply don't care.

You heard Buhari praising himself as having achieved so much in securing the country, as if those being killed everyday across the country are not human beings.

We got here because we simply don't pay attention to our history to guide us in our future dealings!

How anybody was able to convince a youth or an adult to vote for Buhari simply beats my imagination.

I have asked people to point to one road or building, or national monument that you can say was built by Buhari during his time as HOS between 1983-85, but nobody can.

A nepotistic man that kept Alex Ekwueme in kirikiri, while housing Shagari in house arrest.

The monumental corruption That took place under his watch in PTF, which he had flooded with friends and relatives. To make him look presentable and deceive the people at the last elections, OBJ had said that he did "ask Buhari if he personally benefited from that corruption, and Buhari had said he did not", therefore he is good to be voted for as president. When did OBJ become a one-man panel of enquiry? Yet the youth payer no attention.

When Buhari was marching to Oyo state to confront the then governor with his infamous "Your people are killing my people" accusation, people forgot how sectional he was.

When Buhari urged Moslems to only vote for those that will uphold Islam and defend sharia, people overlooked his religious bigotry.

When Buhari made threats of dogs and baboons being soaked in blood, people failed to hold him to account.

A man who had never improved himself since being kicked out of office 30yrs back...when was the last time Buhari was asked to deliver a paper at any gathering either within or outside the country before 2015?

When he was discovered not to have the minimum qualification which is a secondary school certificate to hold the office, the people decided to overlook.

With all these baggage, the country decided to put their destiny in the hands of this same individual!

Nigeria's problem is not a mistake, but the people deliberately decided to inflict mortal injury on themselves and their future.

Election is again around the corner, and some people have already started to FORGET OR IGNORE again!

Its not worrisome for IGP Idris, its a well thought and calculated plan.

If you think that this clown of an IGP cares or respect the lives or properties of the Nigerian citizens then sorry to burst your bubble you are on your own.

More worrisome is that at this time the people needs the security most, president Mohammadu Buhari was the one who approved the 3 weeks leave! what a joke of a president undecided
