Opaque Lagos HQ has devised a new strategy for March, a coordinated smear campaign originating from a previously unknown and unrelated twitter handle which was jumped on by the usual sponsored hacks keen to stay relevant and prove that they know how to use google. In one post, they claimed that “Visionscape is in the (Lagos State environmental) law”. This is patently false. In this heated political climate, it was the perfect stain for the organization which has been rolling out operations, working around the clock to service Lagosians after an admittedly rocky start.Visionscape was never in any version of the environmental law, neither the draft nor the revisions. In another post, they claimed that “Visionscape is a money laundering operation”. How cheap! This completely stands logic on its head. Nigeria remains a high risk and high visibility investment destination. Besides, infrastructure is a term value proposition that can never offer the quick turnaround that is a feature of money laundering schemes.  In any case the UK, one of the countries where Visionscape operates, is hardly your classic money laundering destination.

What exactly is the offence here? Is it going to the capital markets to raise funds? Nigeria’s best brains scrutinized the company's operation and found comfort in investing in a Lagos State’s infrastructure being managed and operated by Visionscape.
 
Any keyboard warrior can take a few screenshots with the aim of confusing the public, but thankfully, FACTS don’t lie and recently incorporated entities with no track record don’t get ratings or raise capital!

Is it that the company is creatively using REVERSE INTEGRATION, a tried and tested business growth strategy which strengthens the supply chain to ensure further performance ?
Or is it because of Niyi Makanjuola, “the small boy getting big jobs”? Left to the powers that be the Presidents of France and Canada (both in their 40s) would still be in apprenticeship.
 
We live in an era where anyone can dash out a string of tweets and destroy livelihoods, investments and governments. That’s the price we pay for the instant gratification of social media.It is a shame that this same tool that has become the symbol for the upward mobility of young people everywhere else in the world, is being weaponized for nefarious uses to tear our own down with "alternative facts". Nigerians, particularly the youths are wiser. They will never allow these agents of doom to pull the wool over their eyes.
