@OP: I think you need to reflect on the meaning of GIFT. Then you will understand that the one who gives it is the one being daft if he gives it but still holds on to it in his mind (the way you're doing here). Whatever you give, be it a pin or a blank cheque, you should give it and take your mind off it.

A gift is designed to bring joy to the receiver and satisfaction to the giver. If you are complaining about the KIND of gift your gal desires, then you better forget it, dont make a substitute because its not compulsory.

@ inas why been sentimental and one sided---as you said a gift is to bring joy to the reciever n satisfaction to the giver. now tel me how will the giver derive satisfaction when the reciever does not apreciate the gift and how will apreciation be expressed when the gift does not make any meaning.

@oubi: Im not one-sided. You still dont get it. If you have ever given a gift (e.g. Of money) and you feel you need to come and make complaints on Nairaland, then next time take your money and go and buy drinks for you and your friends if that is what makes you happy.
