Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser,
Lars Lagerback, has turned
down a proposal to play an
international friendly match
with World Cup-bound Nigeria’s
neighbour, Cameroun, in Abuja.
Impeccable sources at the
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF)
said that Camroun was willing
to play a friendly with the
Super Eagles but the Nigeria’s
coach said he prefers the match
in London instead of Abuja as
was being planned.
The Camerounians felt going to
London to play the Eagles will
disrupt their training camp
programme and told the NFF so
but Lagerback remained
adamant and the match was
called off.
Meanwhile, the friendly match
with Colombia in London on
May 30 remains the only
scheduled match for the Super
Eagles for the World Cup. The
proposed friendly with Iceland
on May 26 has yet to be sealed,
while talk was on going with
North Korea. Lagerback said
playing Cameroun will not help
the Eagles preparation since no
African country is grouped
with Nigeria, arguing that he
needed teams that have
similarity in style with
Argentina, South Korea and
Greece .
NFF General Secretary, Bolaji Ojo-
Oba, however, is not perturbed
by the lack of matches for the
Eagles as he insisted that they
would get some friendly
matches before the world cup
begins.

i think we should just play boca juniors, enyimba,panatinikos and gamba osaka that is 4 world class friendly.
