P0746 Lexus Help by Whynow(m): 9:00pm On Mar 19, 2018
My car 07 RX350 just stalled and refused to accelerate on 3rd mainland bridge.
Managed drive it to the section of the bridge where the Lagos Rescue guys park their bikes.
Car would raise and refuse to accelerate. I watch the speedometer go up and falls back to zero.
Move gear to reverse and heard a thump sound, back to drive and same.....
Never ever heard such sound in my transmission.

Finally I had to get it move at minimal speed with high rpm to my mechanics garage.
Fluid was check and was okay. Then scanned with the attached result.
Prior to this issue, no acceleration problems but
Only slight hesitation.

I need expert advise and directions to go

What was done of lately
Re: P0746 Lexus Help by Whynow(m): 9:32pm On Mar 19, 2018
Last month...Tranny oil change with WS and transmission filter change ...
Reason for this was to fix the slight hesitation while accelerating .
Old Filter was dirty and tranny fluid was light. No metal scrapping found in oil

Any improvement after this. How was the above done?

Standard drain and fill procedure

Have the misfire issue fixed first. Engine performance issue affects transmission performance

From experience, if someone was playing around the connector to your ignition coil and did not snap it in fully, they can unhook going through potholes causing misfire

The solenoid itself and the harness to it may need to be inspected too. I presume the oil is now well gauged and looks clean too.

Just like some fellows have said, have those misfiring problems sorted out first. But, from the noises you said you heard, and the fluctuating RPM, as you rev the car, my mind tells me you might be having a transmission issue already.

The transmission code, is responsible for hydraulically commanding fluid supply, to the various actuators that guarantees gear selections.

If you have any transmission specialist around you, the specific component can be replaced. But if they don't have the expertise, you maybe heading to replace that transmission system.

Can your mechanic recheck the fluid in the transmission again, with the filter?

Are their signs of leaks underneath the transmission body underneath? Shortage of fluid would trigger this code too.

Just ask him to get a sample out, and you observe if there are metal chippings in the fluid.

Am sorry to say, but as long as you keep driving that car like this, transmission system would get damaged.

Joseph

PS: That transmission system is worth hundreds of thousands of naira(about #500-600k).

Just bought a transmission from a reliable dealer at ladipo and currently being installed by his tranny expert.
I don't like problems , would rather bite the bullet to replace.
Let me know if anyone is interested in my old one.

Thanks for all your advise.

Your tranny has probably just broken. You fired the car way too much after change of oil.

Btw How much did you get a new one (tranny)?
Re: P0746 Lexus Help by Whynow(m): 5:21am On Mar 22, 2018
300k w/o the Auxillary.
WS 4litres ×2 . For drain and fill. 25,000 ie 12,500 each
Labour 25k
Apparently after installing new tranny, it was sluggish on gear 1 and jerks at 3. Then the expert said it's important he checks my ECU with an advanced scanner . He did and it gave errors. Hmmmm.

All this while we were still at Ladipo 8pm, had to leave office to meet them.

My expert brought another ECU reprogrammed and went for test drive and voila .....car runs like new. Faster out of the block. Ferrari...
Unlike before that it was full of hesitation and hard acceleration.
Coughed out another 50k for ECU.
He said my ECU may have damaged the tranny or vice versa. Well thank God for my Money market funds at Stanbic. This saved me
Anyway it's a learning curve.
Like I said i don't like patchy work.. that why I had to ensure I got an expert.
Who knows maybe my tranny could have worked if I changed ECU, but I highly doubt that..... and take no chances.
It's better to get it right first time, because the cost of remediation is more.
Thank you all.....Ehen my old tranny is still here in case una need am cool
