Diarrhea refers to a condition in which the person undergoes watery stools more than thrice in a day. By taking proper diet you can sustain yourself from diarrhea instantly.

Diarrhea can be a result of various factors like- unclean food, infections, parasitic invasions, intestinal disease, harmful virus or surgical removal of gallbladder etc.

Often, some foods don’t at all go with your body and when you consume them also diarrhea will attack you. A variety of reasons can cause diarrhea; so unless you find out the reason behind it you cannot decide upon the food and treatment you are supposed to take.

The common outcome of diarrhea is dehydration. Body looses all its fluids and sodium and potassium salts rapidly due to diarrhea.

All these fluids should be immediately replenished to the body to save it from collapsing.

Symptoms of dehydration include fatigue, skin dryness, less urination, giddiness and unquenchable thirst.

If a kid is suffering from diarrhea then you can administer drugs like Infalyte and Pedialyte.

Only when diarrhea is stopped you can get back to your normal diet. Until then avoid foods like milk products, oily foods and foods containing higher levels of sucrose and fiber. Once the diarrhea comes down you can slowly start taking skinless chicken, boiled potatoes, rice, properly cooked carrots, etc. Water, broth, fresh fruit juices can provide some relief during diarrhea.

During diarrhea the following foods will provide great solace to your tummy:

Pulpless fruit juices, canned fruits, bananas, green beans, bread made out of refined wheat, plain rice, oatmeal, etc. Cook the vegetables properly.

Uncooked will affect your digestive system. Foods containing soluble fiber like boiled potatoes, orange and grape fruit, cream of rice, cream of wheat are also allowed.

If the diarrhea is accompanied by cramps or blood stools or high fever then you better rush to the doctor immediately.

Uncontrolled diarrhea will affect your body day after day. Acute dehydration will leave your body fragile, and vulnerable.

You wouldn’t be able to perform daily activities and lead a normal life. Healthy diet will replenish the lost body salts and fluids instantly and sustains your body metabolism.

Take a balanced diet and rest well until you are free of diarrhea. Diarrhea caused due to normal improper food etc will go off in a day or two on its own.

You need not worry about it much. Just be cautious about your diet.

If diarrhea prolongs for several days then it is a serious condition and seeking professional medical assistance is a must.

Sometimes diarrhea affects individuals when they are traveling abroad. Such a condition is known as traveler’s diarrhea.

If you suffer such circumstances avoid eating cooked food that was prepared in unhygienic conditions.

Do not drink tap water and carry a bottle of mineral water along with you.

Avoid eating raw meat or any other meat whose origin you are not sure about.

Try to take fresh veggies, salads, fruits and fruit juices.

Depend more on the canned or fresh food rather than the cooked items. Drink lots of water constantly.

A balanced diet and ample rest is the best remedy for diarrhea.
