Nigeria will name their final World Cup squad on June 1, ten days before the commencement of the tournament in South Africa, Goal.com has been told by an official of the Nigeria Football Federation.

Demola Olajire, spokesman of the NFF also said that a provisional list of 30 will be made known next Tuesday, May 11.

Nigeria coach Lars Lagerback announced a 44-man list in March which consists of players from Europe as well as a sprinkling of local league sides. He is expected to take at least one of the local players to the Mundial after his predecessor Shuaibu Amodu was criticised for not encouraging home based talent.

The preparation of the squad has been questioned in recent days with disagreements over hotel accommodation between the coach and the federation. This has now been resolved with the team expected to be camped at the Protea Waterfront Hotel, Richards Bay, Durban.

Nigeria are placed in Group B with Argentina, Greece and South Korea. They will play their first game at the Ellis Park against Argentina on June 12.

Nigerians do not deserve anything better.

Its not only naija delaying its final list. Once the right choices are made, it wont matter if its two days to go.

Which ever way they should just name the list that will at least qualify us to the second round.

idiots, all the teams are releasing their final players on JUNE 1. if they release them early, other teams will try and find the players out by all means in order to train hard and win the game. if a person only knows few games untill the world cup, then the game is more spontaneous and that is what makes it funner
