The image below is from CNET. U can see 1080p is actually 2k, though people don't normally call it 2k and that is because 2k resolution of 2048 pixels are not common, they are mainly used in the cinemas. 1920x1080p is the closest u can have to 2,000 horizontal pixels that make up 2k and this is why 1080p are 2k because they are definitely not 1k.

Normally 2k resolution is 2048x1080 while FHD is 1920x1080... Very close to 2k and that is why it can be categorized as 2k. And have u ever seen any phone work 2048x1080p resolution?

Lol, anyway my point is there are no true 2k phones or screens out there, only used in cinemas. The closest to 2k is 1920x1080p and that is why some people call it 2k. U know 1k is 1024x720p and 1080p is way above this, and why some people call it 2k. In reality 2k is 2048x1080p but not too many devices come with this display.

But accepted the op should have just put FHD and not include the confusion of the 2k.

My guy let me tell u the truth. U are correct. there are too many screen resolutions that sometimes to classify them is dofficult and they are interwined. Let me break it down in a simple manner. The term 1,2,4,8k are named based on the horizontal pixels.

1,000 pixel is 1k
2,000 pixels is 2k
4,000 pixels is 4k
8,000 pixels is 8k

So a resolution of 1020x720 or 1020x768p etc (so far 1020 is the horizontal pixels) is refered to as HD or 1k.

Resolution of 2048x1080 or 2048x anything is FHD or 2k. But 1920x1080 can also be called 2k because 1920 is closer to 2,000 than 1,000. It is the same way a UHD display of 3840x2160 is called 4k even though 3840 is not up to 4,000 but it is called 4k because it is closer to 4,000 than it is to 2,000 hence it is called 4k. Nromally a true 4k is supposed to be 4096x2160 but u only get that from the cinemas, most 4k TV's come with 3840x2160 and they are called 4k.

A very good example is Sony Xperia z5 premium with 4k display. It's resolution is 3840x2160. Now tell me is 3840 up to 4,000 to call it 4k? Answer is no but it is called 4k because 3840 is much closer to 4,000 than 2,000. Same way 1920 is much closer to 2,000 than 1,000


As for QHD which is 2560x1440, it is also called 2k or 2.5k because it doesn't have enough horizontal pixels to qualify for 4k.

Look at 8k, the resolutions os 7680x4320. Again not up to 8,000 but it's called 8k because it is very close to 8,000 compared to 4,000.

It's just that some people here won't agree, they are right though, and u are also right.

According to the same website u referenced, 2k is said to be from 2048x1080. And u know this phone has 18:9 aspect ratio so the resolution won't be 1920x1080p but 2160x1080. And u still think that is not 2k? Mind u the letter k denotes every 1,000 horizontal pixels. Anything from 2048 is 2k, therefore 2160x1080p is 2k.
