It's a good thing you left that teaching job until you get your shyte together. I don't know why every depressed and/or frustrated soul is pushed to teach to keep body and soul together. . . I wouldn't want a depressed soul teaching young defenseless kids lest one day s/he takes out his or her frustration sexually, emotionally or physically on the kids. There are other easy to get jobs that require no skills and readily available eg construction, building. |

Op, I can relate. A lot of people are depressed in Nigeria and it is only going to get worse.
More sad is the fact that we don’t have support groups or psychotherapists to help with depression or manic depression. I have a job but I am still pretty depressed so it’s a new normal in Nigeria. And the funny thing is I am tired of using alcohol and sex to ease my own depression. But I have never thought of suicide though. I plan to start praying too like one of the posters said.
