With the 8th season of Game of Thrones slotted for a April release next year, the network went ahead to announce that they would be releasing a season 1 special in 4k ultra HD.

The Series which since its debut to viewers in its first season has gone on to win over 30 grammys and over 10 million views has gone on to become one of the best drama series out there on television.


It was adapted from A Song of Ice and Fire, George R. R. Martin's series of fantasy novels, the first of which is A Game of Thrones. It is a story placed in a fictional world were seasons last for years with winter being the longest and the deadliest. It follows the skirmishes of seven kingdoms as they fight for the iron throne. The series has been applauded for its use of well rounded characters and very immersive subplots. At the moment, HBO, and the network clearly is hoping that die hard fans and new viewers will be eager to pick up this latest season one offering. HBO has announced that with this re-release of season 1 on 4K Ultra HD on June 5, 2018, there will be some pretty interesting additional bonus features.
