@APROKOGIRL The West African Examination Council, WAEC, has revealed what will happen to students found guilty of examination malpractice. WAEC said students caught in examination malpractice will not be allowed to take the exam for some years. This was part of the resolutions made at the recent 65th Nigeria examinations committee (NEC) meeting which held in Lagos and contained in a communiqué signed by Demianus Ojijieogu, head, public affairs. The committee approved various sanctions for all established cases of malpractice. Daily Post Also Reports That The communiqué reads, “In the course of considering various reported cases of malpractice, the committee, after diligent deliberations approved appropriate sanctions in all established cases of malpractice, as prescribed by the rules and regulations governing the conduct of the council’s examination. “It approved the entire results of candidates involved in proven cases, which attract cancellation of entire results (CER) while subject results of those involved in proven cases which attract cancellation of subject results (CSR) be similarly cancelled. “In addition, some candidates will also suffer other sanctions such as barring them from sitting for the council’s examinations for a certain number of years. “The decision of the committee will be implemented without delay and the affected candidates and examination centres duly informed by the council. However, the results of candidates who were exonerated by the committee will be released.” BY APROKO GIRL : https://aprokogirl.com/292/waec-announces-2018-new-rules-on-examination-malpractice/ cc; lalasticlala 1 Like 1 Share |

I had an accident last year that hinder my chances of writing waec, I was referred to uni Ilorin teaching hospital where I underwent surgeries and rehabilitations for close to four months... My question is: How will waec treat this type of case Will the candidate be allowed to rewrite the exam or is that the end Tho my parents never send anyone or message to the school as they were more concern about my health... |

All na wash, 90% of schools in Nigeria are directly or indirectly involve in examination malpractice, waec officials also play a major role, an average Nigerian olevel students can hardly pass waec without being assisted. 2 Likes 1 Share |

I think the new law is too draconian. I realize they are trying to combat bad behaviour and improve the integrity of the exam but banning a student from resitting an exam for many years is like throwing them in prison and throwing away the key. Young students have to be given a chance to be rehabilitated and succede in life. It's bad enough the country does not offer much in terms of job opportunities for the students that graduate from universities. Now they're are trying to bar a secondary school student from ever having the opportunity to enter university. |

When will examination malpractice be history! The teachers of the o level too could not sometime answer some questions without asking text book and internet! Improve our schools facilities and bring eligible, qualified teachers! If not there is no use claiming to descipline cheaters! |

Queenext:If u bar them from writing Waec, they will go and write NeCO or even Nabteb. The only way to discourage malpractice is to fully equip all schools with modern learning tools and aids. Teachers should be well paid and monitored. And finally, the examination should be computerized. |
