The leaders of South-South, Hausa, Fulani, Igbo and Nupe, North Central communities resident in Lagos state have assured Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of four million votes in next year’s governorship election in the state.

Speaking at an event at the Lagos State secretariat on Thursday to honour the governor with quality leadership award, the leader of Regional Leaders Council Lagos State, Eze Uche Dimgba said that what inspired the award as well as the decision to endorse the governor for second term in office was his starling performances in all the sectors of governance. Eze Dimgba who is also the vice president Ndi Eze Igbo (Igbo kings) in Diaspora said that it is the wish of the Regional Leaders Council, Lagos State to show their heart felt appreciation for the quality leadership and good governance which the governor has been exhibiting since 2015 that he came into office.

He added that the praise worthy award was in line with the adage which encourages Nigerians to reward good work with good work and sing praises of one that is doing great work for his people but on the other hand criticize and condemn another who is not living up to expectation in the discharge of his official duties and responsibilities.

According to him, words cannot be enough to quantify the development his government has brought in the area of infrastructure, security, economy, agriculture, health and beautification of the state. He said recently the governor signed seven new bills into law among which was the electricity power sector reform,which gives legal backing to the embedded power programs which would help to generate and supply uninterrupted power to Lagos State as a whole and its environs.

“Our heart is full of joy. We therefore, owe it as a duty to keep singing praises unto you and your government because to whom much is given, much is expected. You can imagine that individual regions planned and carried out historic campaign rallies at Onikan stadium for you in 2015 during your electioneering campaign, little did they know that they were truly campaigning for their God-sent.

How much more now all the regions have come together as one, the campaign and rally this time will shake Lagos state like earth quake and tsunami put together. This is why our heart is full of joy because our efforts will be immensely crowned and rewarded with immeasurable dividends of democracy. We make bold to say that our choice of Akinwunmi Ambode is never a mistake at all.He is a governor with outstanding exemplary leadership qualities”

The award was received on behalf of the governor by Hon. Benjamin Adeyemi Olabinjo, Special Adviser to the governor on Civic Engagement and Political Matters
