Okowa Assures Delta HOSTCOM Of Adequate Support, Partnership


THE Governor of Delta State, Senator
Ifeanyi Okowa has reassured the Delta State Chapter of Host Communities
of Nigeria (HOSTCOM) of adequate support and continued partnership that will bring lasting peace and development to the oil -producing communities and areas
in the state.
Okowa, who was represented by the Chief of Staff, Hon. Tam Brisibe, at the inauguration of Delta State executives of HOSTCOM, recently at Effurun, also charged HOSTCOM to ensure the adequate
implementation of the Local Content
Act by multinationals companies operating in the communities to engage indigenes profitably.
Also, the immediate past Delta State chairman of HOSTCOM, Dr. Peter Kelly Edegegbe, called on HOSTCOM and Deltans
to wholeheartedly support the re-election of Governor Okowa in 2019, adding that the governor has contributed immensely to the growth and welfare of HOSTCOM in thestate.
Egedegbe, noted that with the support of Governor Okowa, HOSTCOM purchased and renovated a storey building with six flats, for HOSTCOM Secretariat, appointment
of nine HOSTCOM youths as special assistants and members of Waterway Security Committee, approved monthly subvention to run HOSCTOM Secretariat.
According to him “ the past executives
of were able to secure employment slots at the federal government SEEFOR Waste management project to engage our youths, discussions with federal government
to ensure the passage of Host Communities
Petroleum Development Trust Bill 2018, and as awarding of pipeline surveillance
/ security services to HOSTCOM to gainfully engage unemployed youths in oil and gas producing communities “.
Meanwhile, the new Chairman of HOSTCOM,
Delta State, Evang. Gabriel Isibeluo, in his speech after the inauguration of the executives, assured Delta State government,
traditional rulers, leaders of host communities that HOSTCOM will continue
to provide the enabling environment for increased oil production.
