Wife of Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Janet Olusola Eleka has said that Ekiti women will be trusted with political power if room could be given for continuity in the state.

Mrs. Olusola made the remarks on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti during the inauguration of Ekiti Women Emancipation Movement, a group formed to promote and advocate for the interest of women and to enlighten Ekiti women on the need to participate fully in politics.

The wife of the Deputy Governor who was ably represented by the Tutor General for Ekiti Central, Mrs. Toyin Arogundade urged Ekiti women to do whatever they can do to ensure that Prof. Eleka win the July 14 election, saying they should go back to their wards to canvass for more support ahead of the election.

In her welcome address, the Coordinator of the movement, Mrs. Adedayo Adenike said the group was not out to rival the existing groups already working for Prof. Eleka but to add their own input in ensuring that he becomes the next governor of Ekiti State.

"Ekiti Women Emancipation Movement is solidly behind the governorship ambition of Prof Eleka because of all aspirants in the state , he is the most educated and the time has come for a state which prides herself as fountain of knowledge to be governed by one of her best brains.

"We are not just supporting Prof. Eleka but we have a great confidence in him; he has been examined meticulously and we can make bold to say he ( Eleka ) is a man with unblemished integrity who has acquired necessary knowledge on politics and governance under the tutelage of a practical and political professor, Gov. Ayodele Fayose who is the only PDP governor in the South West, Nigeria", Mrs. Adenike said.

Speaking, Mrs. Aramide Oyedeji Ojewole who is the Commissioner 3 at Ekiti State Civil Service Commission urged the women to go for self trainings and get themselves developed to prove to the men folk in politics that women equally have something tangible upstairs to offer the society.

Mrs. Ojewole who was given an award as the most vibrant female youth politician by the movement also beseeched the women to be good managers of their homes, stop backbiting and desist from being intoxicated with political powers.

At the inauguration, the former Chairman, Ado Local Government and Commissioner 1 at Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission, Mrs. Tosin Ajisafe Aluko became the matron of the movement while the immediate past Chairman of Gbonyin Local Government, Mrs. Shade Akinrinmola was given an award as the Best Female Political Mobilizer. The duo promised to give necessary support to the movement and admonished members of the group to mobilize and win more souls for the continuity agenda.

The wife of the deputy governor, Mrs Janet Olusola, Mrs. Abiola Kayode, Bar. Olugbenga Agbede and some other eminent personalities in the state were presented with awards by the movement.
