Meanwhile the Asagba of Asaba H.R.M Obi (Prof.)ChikeEdozie played host to EZE (DR.) HARRIS CHUMA and his entourage at his royal palace on the 28th August 2014 where He gave his royal blessings to the newly installed Eze Igbo of Nollywood EZEOMENANI(DR.)HARRIS CHUMA, and was honored with the Award of an OUTSTANDING IGBO AMBASSADOR for his immense contribution in fighting the course of the Igbo race. Accepting the Award, the monarch started that he has never been happier to receive an Award. In his word, “I have never been this happier in my life. Today is my happiest day and this is the most precious award I have ever received”. In his speech, the Asaagba reinstated that the Anioma People of Delta State are Igbos, citing their language as one of His bases for saying so. He noted that what the people of Anioma speak is Igbo/Ibo, just like their Brothers from across the Niger. He reinstated his support for the creation of Anioma State saying it will help expand the Igbo territory. He urged OhanezeNdigboNollywood not to relent in her effort to promote, project and preserve Igbo culture. 4 Likes 1 Share |

ckenneths: The so called second Niger Bridge is a SCAM! Only the worst f00l is still unable to see it. Buhari will NEVER build anything for SE. His tactics is to say he is "reviewing" a project started by his predecessors or he is "repairing" something to make the project better or cheaper or some lie. Then quietly kills the project. Infact, his next target is to find some dubious excuse that he wants to "repair, expand, put state of the art equipment and bring 30 international airlines to Enugu" so that he could close down Akanu Ibiam International airport indefinitely. 6 Likes |

hammer6F: Opobo and Bonny people answer Ijaw names like Wariso, Opusunju, Sokari, Dappa etc but the only language they know how to speak is Igbo. I have a very close friend from Opobo, even the day he hosted their village meeting, what they were speaking is Igbo, I asked him and he said they have their own indigenous language which is similar to Ijaw but many of them in his village doesn't speak or understand their language, what they speak is Igbo 2 Likes 1 Share |

He reinstated his support for the creation of Anioma State saying it will help expand the Igbo territory. He urged OhanezeNdigboNollywood not to relent in her effort to promote, project and preserve Igbo culture This is the way things should be done. Being open and clear, and not speaking from both sides of the mouth. The Asagba has been very consistent in upholding Igbo identity of Ndi Ahaba, he even tries to make claims for other Anioma people, but until we see monarchs from those places making such speeches themselves, we would hardly be convinced of their own loyalty. I'm a member of Ahaba facebook pages, and as an Igbo, I feel very welcomed there. The people are pro Igbo, and don't tolerate any exhibition of Igbophobia. This is also part of the reason Ndiigbo in SE had since moved our Nollywood to Ahaba, and are making massive investments there. Ahaba and the Asagba are leading the way, why is the rest of Anioma not following? 11 Likes 2 Shares |

pazienza: This is a direct consequence of the creation of rivers state and handing it to the Diete-Spiff led Ijaws to manage on behal of the northern feudal overlords! It allowed them to make inroads into Port Harcourt and claim land of which it would be hard to take away from them today! The Ijaws were so bold and brazen at the time to do all sorts of stuff in the old rivers state because they knew who was backing them and giving them the necessary liver to deal with the Igbos and other 'Igboid' groups in the state! 2 Likes |

pazienza: I told you some pages back that Ika and Ukwuani people makeup over 90% of all Anioma people that reject being called Igbos both home and abroad. The information given to Wikipedia about ethnic groups in Nigeria recorded Ukwuani and Ika as ethnic groups while Aniocha and Oshimiri are the only Igbos in Delta state thereby making Igbo a minority in Delta state. 1 Like |

If the ss igbos dont take a stand soon...they will be left behind without apology. Look at this map...the green part represents ss igbos while the other part is se. Can u all see that no part of igboland whether se or ss is bordered by atlantic ocean. The ss igbos dont have any advantage over se igbos. Time to cut the nay sayers off. Se igboland is good to go it alone...and if asaba and genuine delta igbos want, we can go it together. Others can fvck off. We dont need them. And its time we get very violent about it. 4 Likes 2 Shares

EVERYONE SHOULD LISTEN UP One thing I believe many of you do not want to work on is to try and lure them back into the fold. I believe many of you just want the easy way out and remedy your headaches asap. I will love some of you to take the long route. This route involves you all enumerating ways in which we can solve the problem by finally bringing them back into the fold. I do not care about the past, what i care about is the future and we can remedy the past by really correcting the mistakes of the past and redesigning the future in such a way that we all will benefit. I believe the youths of nowadays are always of the opinion of throwing away bad water or locking taps where the water flows slowly without exercising a level of patience in making dirty water clean or making the water run faster. I believe we can achieve anything we set our minds towards and there is no way we cannot achieve the aim of correcting the past and winning the future. We as big brother igbos have so much blames too. We have not won any battle since after the war. We are not the beautiful bride we all want to be. Ikwerre land is the capital of rivers state and enjoys a sort of government patronage, anioma land is the capital of delta state and enjoys a sort of government patronage. As we stand now, what do we have to give them that will make them want to upset their seemingly advantageous balance for our own utopia? We all need to not be emotional about issues and look at the world from an open mind. Even in politics, they stand a better position in both power-blocs (APC and PDP) but we keep offering less and beating our chest that we are the big brothers. We all should swallow our pride and work on ourselves. These people do not have anywhere to go if you look at it from a futuristic point of view. What do the binis have to give them? Do you think the Ijaw will lose a sleep for the ikwerres? The singular direction of their interest will surely be eastwards. But the funniest part is that, the easterners are not even moving eastwards too. 1 Like |

aniomafirstson:Yeah nwanne! We all have useful suggestions here. I admire Pazienza a lot and I fully support his arguments. But I think we need to go a bit further to put our ideas into reality. Let's start by registering a wholly focus Pan-Igbo group offline, whose focus is solely operation Noah's ark as Pazienza would term it. A non-profit cultural and political organization whose aims is geared towards solving the Igbo identity crisis for good. Where we openly excommunicate the wolves amongst us and redefine our ethnic boundary. We all feel the brunt of the embarrassment we face from the denials and it's high time we take the bull by the horn. 1. To match talk with action by registering under the company's act a Pan-Igbo interest group. 2. All of us herein become members of this offline group. 3. Use this organization as a medium to carryout the resolutions passed here. 4. Organize an Igbo/Igboid conference where representative of every sub-groups are invited to speak the minds of their people. We would wholeheartedly support their quest for ethnic independence and nationality, allow them revise their history as deem fit by them, culturally and politically officially cutoff all brotherly ties with them. 4. Redefine a new and unadulterated Igbo ethnic map. And announce to the federal government to gazette the resolutions while holding these groups accountable for their actions in the advent of federal appointments, state creations, or future coups or disturbances. Enough of robbing Peter to pay Paul, time to seive the wheat from the tars. Time to know those who are for us and those pretenders who ride on our back to get what they want. #operationnoah'sark 4 Likes 1 Share |

Afikpo ABIA just like ANIOMA is an acronym. ABIA stands for Aba, Bende, Isiokwatu and Afikpo which were the places that championed the creation of Abia from the old Imo and were the places with the most population. Old Afikpo Province was part of Abia state and consisted of current day Local Governments: Isiokwatu ( currently in Abia) Afikpo North Afikpo South Ohaozara Ivo Onicha Isiokwatu Local Government in Abia State was part of Afikpo. Aro roots of Ikwere identity crises culled from vanguardngr.com by Prof Chidi Osuagwu of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Imo State In 1991, Babangida regime created new states without creating Igweocha or Port-Harcourt as requested by Igbo people of Rivers State, led by Senators Obi Wali and Francis Ellah. A short while later, I accompanied Mazi Philip Nkwocha, a friend of Obi Wali’s, to visit him at his home in Umuigbo. As Senator Wali saw us enter his house, he shouted at his friend “Phil, what happened?” His friend retorted, in surprise, “Obi about what?” “How come you people asked for Igbo States without including Port-Harcourt?” Wali further asked his perplexed friend. At this point I had to speak up to minimize the confusion. I knew something they both didn’t know. In 1991 Emeka Omeruah, from Imo State (later Abia), was Military Governor of Enugu State, while Anthony Ogugua, from Anambra (later Enugu) was in Imo State. As the agitation for states heated, these two Governors, quietly, set up a committee to harmonious Igbo demand for States. I was a committee member. Four states were identified; Abia, Anioma, Enugu and Port-Harcourt. Outreach groups were constituted to reach out to the Igbo in the different states. But events were moving so rapidly that the group decided to go with only demands that would not elicit identity confusion. Port-Harcourt was dropped, for this reason, for the Igbo there to do the best they could under the circumstance. Hearing this Senator Wali sat still for a long while, then said “Phil, our gamble about identity has failed! You will buy me three traditional Igbo dresses. I will attend this year’s Ahiajoku Lecture, and seek to deliver that of next year”. He never made it! He was assassinated a short while later, his friends believed, for his continued Port-Harcourt State creation agitation. When I read later that Dr Wali’s son, Ihunwo, was one of the leaders of the Congress for the Liberation of Ikwerre People, COLIP; an ‘Ikwerre-back-to-Igbo-fold’ youth movement, whose mission is to wean Ikwerre off Biafra-war propaganda, I knew where he was coming from. Identify-confusion is a horrible disease. Barack Obama’s greatest political strength is his very early decision to be African-American and nothing else. He knew where his father came from; and where his mother came from. Those who pretend in America that they are, socially, half-white and half-black, for example, end up as friends of psychiatrists. “Our gamble about identity has failed!” That statement, by a man who, a short while later, was murdered; for his just state-creation aspiration, still haunts one to this day. And no one can understand the current crisis in Rivers State without understanding the identity crises there. For instance what it means to be Ijaw, but not Izon or ‘core-Ijaw’. And, to be Igbo-speaking, but not Igbo? Or, in fact, all of the above. Not to talk of Ogoni ‘war-of-all-against-all’. When I observed to Senator Wali that his person epitomized the Ikwerre identity dilemma; his very village is Umuigbo (Igbo-children/Igbo descendants/Igbo people), but he too claimed not to be Igbo, his response pointed to the great depth of our identity crises. He told us that his problem was not Igbo identity, as such, but Aro-Ikwerre domination. He informed us that he used to attend the Council meeting of the Village deity priesthood with his father. Even as a child, who carried his father’s stool, it struck him that of the seven stools of the Council, the small Aro population in Umuigbo controlled four. That information struck me. Famous writer, Elechi Amadi, had given me a variant of this Aro-Ikwerre problematic tale in 1985. We had served together on an interview panel at the then Rivers State College of Education, Port-Harcourt. He told me he had no problem with Igbo identity, but had problem when the Aro-Ikwerre, during the Nigeria-Biafra War, plotted to kill him. Now, it seems the Ikwerre suffer from a significantly misdirected anger. They are, in this case; holding their Isuama-Igbo (Ikwerre, traditionally, distinguished between ‘Ikwerre and Isuama’; not ‘Ikwerre and Igbo’) kinsmen, who are ethically more related to them than to the Aro, accountable for Aro domination. The Early British, before oil became a factor of ethnic classification in the Lower Niger, had a cultural sub-group of the Igbo they called Orratta-Ikwerre (that is Owerri-Ikwerre, in current usage), who, both call the heartland Igbo as Isuama. Ekwensu wu amaghi ihe! The Devil is Ignorance! The solution to our identity crises, then, is ‘Know self, know other!’ Now to consider the Aro a purely Igbo people; and hold Igbo responsible for Aro mischief is the height of identity confusion. One day, the Cross-river Ejegham, who own the Ibini-Ukpabi soul of the Aro system, the Efik who control the social organizational Ekpe; the Ogoja Akpa that supplied the fighters and the Ibibio on whose land Arochukwu was founded will turn around and blame the Igbo, from among whom a few medicine men were coopted, for inventing Ibini-Ukpabi and Aro slavery. That would be a most uncharitable treatment of truth, but the world is a clever place. 1 Like 2 Shares |
