Well. They say that hindsight is 20/20.
Below in my humble opinion are Nnamdi Kanu mistakes.

1. He failed to realize the importance of seizing political control of SE, before going gung-ho on the imperial FG.
As much as Zik hated the British and her colonial suppression and oppression of Igboland, he recognized the importance of seizing the political control of the East from the then British loyal politicians of the East like Eyo Ita , AC Nwapa, Eni Njoku, Okoi Arikpo.
He unseated these British loyal politicians of the East who for selfish interests, didn't want to see the British colonial reign come to end and implanted in their place, his own henchmen who worked with him to end the British reign.
The best way to destroy any entity is often from within, through compromise.
How could Nnamdi Kanu have all the Youth of SE at his beck and call, and refuse to deploy such power in seizing the political control of the SE from the current Pro One Nigeria political office holders in SE?
That was his first fatal mistake, and the Caliphate realized this, and so moved quick to join ranks with the Igbo political class (enemies within) who feared Kanu rise and who also for their own selfish interests want the continual existence of Ndiigbo within the Nigerian entity , to topple and crush him.
This is lesson for the future Igbo leader.
Lesson1: The internal potential collaborators to the external enemies, must first and foremost be rendered powerless. You must seize absolute control( political and otherwise) of the home front, before you can challenge an external power.
Kanu and IPOB decision to stay away from the political power process (elections) in the East, would permanently ensure their mission remain furtile. This is the bitter truth.

2. I would keep this second mistake for only Igbo audience.
Zik was able to seize leadership because he had constitutionally recognised region. With the already balkanized igboland, it may not be easy. Ekwueme did great by the emergence of geo-political zones. Gradually these zones are getting recognition. Our work now is how to make the zone recognised by constitution (restructuring). Then an igbowide grassroot political revolution can occur. As for igbos outside the region, they will be naturally attracted to us by the time we start getting things right plus they will not like to be minorities in the newly empowered region. A move for boundary adjustment will ensue. After that, international alliance for outright secession

Seriously, I don't know there were two Jaja wachukwu in the 60's or are they the same person if they are, then know that your information is wrong.
Nothing like two, it's mispelling. It's Jaja wachukwu and Aja nwachukwu, the former is from Abia state and was the 1st nigeria indigenous foreign affairs minister while later is from Enugu state
