A private chopper christened Rick Ross had its graphic illustrations completed at the weekend, as the hype for the musician’s Nairobi NRGWave concert got to an all-time high at the weekend.

The Idols Become Rivals rapper will be doing a first round across East Africa this week. Rick Ross is expected to wave at his fans from the chopper ahead of the Carnivore concert that is anticipated to be the biggest show so far in the Kenyan entertainment scene.

MondayBlues has also confirmed that the East Africa Breweries Limited has set aside 3,500 special alcoholic drinks for the American rapper.
The Saturday concert is expected to put Nairobi back in the international showbiz map. The last such international musician to perform in Kenya was Chris Brown, who had a concert in Mombasa back in 2016.

Rick Ross will be jetting in on Thursday ahead of the Carnivore grounds show that has attracted thousands of fans from across Africa.

Yesterday, MondayBlues confirmed that more than 2,000 foreigners had booked tickets and hotel rooms in Nairobi, with demands for the VIP tickets going high.

By yesterday a governor had purchased 20 VIP tables, while a family of a prominent politician reserved seven tables. Many more VIP tickets have been booked.

Information reaching us yesterday had it that all artistes booked to curtain-raise for the American star had been confirmed, with Nyashinski being the only non-rap artiste to be included in the list.

Those set to perform include Camp Mullah, Khaligraph Jones, Timmy TDat and Fena Gitu.

“We are set to go. We did not expect this concert to attract such a high attention. We have been receiving bookings from across the continent, especially from Rick Ross’ fans in Nigeria, South Africa and across East Africa. This is a big one for the entertainment industry,” said Kevin Mulei, one of the brains behind the Energy Wave Saturday concert.

Meanwhile, Rick Ross released his third solo studio album Deeper Than Rap on Saturday amid a feud between him and another international artiste.

The album came at a pivotal point in the artiste’s tenure in the rap game. Ross was confronted by controversy months after the release of his 2008 sophomore album Trilla, as pictures and information revealed that he had worked as a corrections officer.

The street single for the album Mafia Music then kicked off a beef with then formidable foe 50 Cent, birthing Fif’s Pimpin’ Curly character, and fostering a wild back-and-forth that played out on the internet.
