Good day, dear Auto Nairalanders.

Please I need some advice.
I intend to purchase a 2007 Honda Accord DC soon, preferably V4 (i4).

I would like to know certain things about it first.
How reliable is this ride?
What are it's common problems?
To those who own a similar '07 DC, kindly brief me on any challenges you have encountered so far. Have you ever been disappointed by your car while traveling?

EDIT -- One more thing. Owner said vehicle is fully baked.
Should I be worried about paint fading or cracking in future?

Looking forward to your responses.
Thanks in advance.

I have gone through the vehicle specs.

2.4L engine.
Fuel efficiency is 25 mpg combined.
Double wishbone suspensions

And so on.

I would like to get first hand insights from experienced users of this vehicle.

Thanks in advance once again.

Very correct. Regular maintenance is key using appropriate fluids and parts. You cannot abuse this car, it will disappoint and abuse ur pocket big time if u do.

Ensure CEL is not on to enjoy optimum performance...the vtec mode is thrilling! It has never got me stranded.

OK.
So you mean no serious recurring issues to be noted. If so, nice.
One more thing, mayor2013. Owner said vehicle is fully baked.

@Sholarb,
Yeah I have read a lot about the importance of using the right fluids especially for Hondas. And the right ball joints too.

Kindly tell me some more about CEL.

If baking job was properly done you do not need to worry about that. Just have a professional inspect car on your behalf before purchase

Kindly tell me some more about CEL.

CEL means Check Engine Light and normally comes up at turn of ignition to ON position (note this) then go off after starting d engine (note this as well).

When check engine light is permanently on it may indicate a simple problem that is easy to fix – such as a loose fuel cap. Or, it may be a warning of a more serious problem.

CEL is the first yellow light at top left corner in image below.

Oh. The check engine indication, I know.
The abbreviation got me off.
Something learned.
Thanks Sholarb.
Gracias.

No, I’ve not.

Yes, you should, it will crack.

The accord is a nice car overall. I have used six of them in recent times (2003-2007 models) but, ensure you purchase a good specimen.

Only common problem (in my experience) must be the power steering! You can’t miss the annoying whine, especially on cold start. However, it can be pretty easy to fix.

I never experience any cold start whines... I attribute cold morning whines to worn belts........

I am sure preventive maintenance would suffice.

I have actually never fixed a faulty power steering.

What are the specs, model year et al of the accord you’re currently running ?

I’ll assume you’re in UK, or somewhere in Europe. A 2009 Accord with the R20 engine once almost finished me grin but let’s not derail this thread.

Engine threw a rod, replacement not available in Ladipo & Oyingbo combined. Nearly bought a modified r18 engine. Later sold it off for 600k or so (this is a very neat summary cry )

If the whine occurs when you turn the steering, then it's an easy fix.
Simply replace the inlet O-ring on the power steering pump.
You can do it yourself. Easy.

It’s a good car. The transmission is smooth. It’s heavier than your regular Toyota. You would feel the weight on the steering at full speed.

I drive one and I can tell you that maintenance is key. It won’t disappoint if you get a well maintained Honda Accord
