I think it is very interesting on why this appears to be called a "deception". Think about it. If you can only have eternal life by repenting of sins and not living filthy, then technically you are saved by your works. You are saved because you are a good person. That is what this all comes down to. Well let me tell you, this is not the good news. Why? Because you are trusting in your own works other than the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Want to hear a fun fact? Most religions don't believe in eternal security. They believe you can lose it, if YOU AREN'T GOOD ENOUGH! The whole world teaches salvation by works! What a mind blower!

You want to know what REALLY is the broad way? THIS is the broad way! Everyone teaches that you must be good to get into heaven! EVERYONE! Of course they won't come out and say that directly! They will cloak it under such wisdom of words! "Deny yourself!" Every religion believes in self denial! In reality GRACE is the narrow path! Why? Because it is all about TRUST! You have to TRUST CHRIST NO MATTER THE BEHAVIOR, NO MATTER THE CIRCUMSTANCES! NO ONE wants to trust Jesus! If you are a believer of eternal security then you will be crucified by the self proclaimed Christians! Mostly them! They will say, "You're giving people a license to sin!", "Preach on sin more!", "You're just a feel good preacher!" Darn right I am! I AM A FEEL GOOD PREACHER BECAUSE JESUS IS SUPPOSED TO MAKE YOU FEEL GOOD! He is the good news! Good news make people feel good! Does it not? Am I wrong? Otherwise good news wouldn't be called good news!

Pride seems to be the issue. Satan ministers are ministers of righteousness! Of course his ministers will teach that YOU MUST WORK TO EARN ETERNAL LIFE! Anything besides BELIEVING THE GOSPEL ALONE to be saved! The enemy will do anything to get you not to trust in the Son! Those who trust in their own works; their end will be according to their obedience.
Salvation loss = Salvation by works.
Salvation loss is the deception.
If the WHOLE WORLD teaches salvation by works, then what do you think is the narrow path?
Grace thru Faith alone is the narrow road.
