I guess by 'Computer Scientist', you mean those who actually have a degree in computer science. I do not, but I have done CS work in my career in a manner of speaking. Worked as a software engineer/developer, later as a business analyst. |

AjanleKoko:What does your job entails as as Business analyst? |
Re: Computer Scientist Forum by AjanleKoko: 11:03am On May 20, 2010 |
^^ Basically translate business requirements into IT solutions. Business analysts typically work with programmers or other software engineers, or architect. But in Nigeria, sometimes you have to be everything. In my own case, I worked with Finance, and I used to create system workflows on our ERP system based on the finance processes. |

Well, I'm new to this forum and I love this thread because of what I'm currently doing. I've a first degree in Electrical Electronics Engineering and I'm currently running my Masters in Computer Science. I've come to realise that there are a lot of career opportunities in Computer Science contrary to what I first thought. System Analyst, Software Engineer, Programming just to name a few but, it's the area of Modulation and Simulation that's really my interest. I don't know if it's viable in this country but I believe in doing what you love. And lastly, Computer Science is not IT. There is a big distinction although as a Computer Scientist, you can adequately pursue a career in IT. Just my quota. |
