French first lady Brigitte Macron has said Melania Trump is hiding a strong personality and has become a virtual prisoner in her own home. Mrs Macron heaped praise on her ‘fun’ and ‘intelligent’ American counterpart after her three-day visit to Washington. She said: ‘Melania can’t do anything, she can’t even open a window at the White House because immediately the security services call and say “close it”. ‘She can’t go outside. Every day, I go out in Paris,’ she said in an interview during the final day of the Macrons’ US trip. It is the second time she and Mrs Trump, who she described ‘kind, charming, intelligent,’ have met. The pair spent time together when the Trumps visited Paris in July. Melania is reportedly very different in private to in public, where the 48-year-old former model from Slovenia displays little emotion during appearances with her husband.
