Aisha Buhari Reacts To Ban On Production Of Codeine Containing Syrups In Nigeria by olajay86(m): 10:22am On May 02, 2018 |
Aisha Buhari, wife of President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the federal Government’s ban on the production of Codeine containing syrups in Nigeria. We reports that the Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, on Tuesday directed the National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, to ban with immediate effect further issuance of permits for the importation of codeine as active pharmaceutical ingredient for cough preparations. Adewole said the directive became necessary due to the gross abuse of Codeine usage in the country. However, reacting, the wife of the president, while commending the development called on relevant stakeholders to tackle the rising cases of drug abuse among youths in Nigeria. ”Very welcome development by the Federal Government, Ministry of Health, NAFDAC and Emzor Pharmaceuticals. ”Gradually and collectively we will put an end to the menace of drug abuse in Nigeria, lets save the lives of our youths and that of the next generation. ” I have noted with alarm the exponential rise of drug abuse in our country, especially in the North. ” As a parent, I am deeply saddened by this fact, it is important that we interrupt the trend and encourage our children to stay drug-free.” http://www.titopeblog.com/2018/05/aisha-buhari-reacts-to-ban-on.html 11 Likes

Once in kano I had cough and some guy advised codine syrup. He encouraged me to drink up. I must confess it was sweet in my mouth so I guzzled down half the bottle. The guy was just having some funny smile on his face while we walk away from the shop. My steps started going into slow motion. managed to coordinate my steps until I got home and crashed on the bed. I must have slept for hours after that. I swore by obatala never to near any cough syrup again. 48 Likes 1 Share |

Aisha you are always reacting , the addiction of northern youths can't be solved by banning codine, rather they will only succeed in making codine very expensive because, the producers and marketers will capitalize on it and sell it at an exorbitant prices, second, new people will move into the trade as it will pay more , they will bribe officials and still sell it at 10x the original price... take a good look at tokunbo cars before the import duty was increased, Toyota corolla used to be 1.3m now sells at 2.3m and still they are importing and bringing it in without duty paid... this is Nigeria, this is Africa.. 98 Likes 10 Shares |

When northern leaders failed to provide education and development opportunities for their uneducated teeming youths / almajiris why wouldn't they take solace in drugs? Madam talk to your husband and other northern elites to stop their almajiri style of governance and invest in youth development. 34 Likes |

TheFreeOne:Gbam! A million bans will not solve the core problem of drug abuse, if these issues are not tackled and resolved. I am even surprised that nobody is talking about setting up detoxification programmes and centres in the North, to get some of the affected youth on the path to rehabilitation, so they can kick the drug habit. 27 Likes |

GEJ built almajiri schools to educate northern kids and give them self worth and value, yet the north rejected the solution to their age long backwardness. The solution is not in banning substances (there's a million and one substance ) that gets them high including inhaling of soak-away pit. The solution is mind reconfiguration which only good education can bring about. 7 Likes 2 Shares |
