With many viewers wondering why Cee-C remained a part of the show until the end despite many infractions, organisers of Nigeria’s biggest reality show, Big Brother Naija, have offered an explanation.

Some of the viewers called for the disqualification of the female contestant who ended up as runner-up on social media platforms and some of them put it down to favouritism when the young lawyer remained in the house.

A press conference in the aftermath of the show offered a chance for journalists to meet the organisers, and the question of why Cee-C wasn’t disqualified – despite injuring Lolu, insulting the host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and ripping her Payporte party dress to shreds – came up.

Saturday Telegraph sought to know if keeping Cee C in the Big Brother house was a calculated move especially as the pair of Khloe and K.Brule were disqualified for something less significant and Managing Director of Multichoice Nigeria, John Ugbe, had this to say: “Those questions would always come.

I think when the show started, there was a perception that some housemates were placed into the house by the sponsors to win the show. Then it switched by the next week.

“At every point, the housemates were aware of the rules of being in the house, and those were adhered to throughout. At the end of the day guys, it’s a game, and the rules were adhered to. Throughout the time the housemates were in the house, there was fairness.”

While restating the issue of fairness and transparency, Ugbe added: “At a time we heard about the votes, and then, week after week, we published those percentages and people saw the reality behind the numbers.”

He explained that everything was planned before the show kicked off and that organisers already sent the eviction schedule to the audit company, Deloitte, weeks before the show started on January 28.

The curtains for the third edition of Big Brother Naija were drawn on April 22, with Miracle emerging winner and Cee-C as the first runner-up along with Tobi, Alex and Nina who came up as second runner-up, 3rd runner up and fourth runner-up respectively.
