Owing Workers’ Salaries Attracts Generational Curse – Senatorial Aspirant by OrientDailyNews: 12:45pm On May 07, 2018
Says some private employers “treat their workers as slaves.”
By O’star Eze

An aspiring lawmaker, Dr. Anselm Enyimba, has said that owing workers’ salaries attracts generational curses as he urged lawmakers to make laws that would protect the rights of Nigerian workers.

Enyimba, an APGA aspirant to the senate, said this in his May Day message which he made available to Orient Daily.

While applauding the Willie Obiano Anambra state administration for giving Anambra workers what he called “soft landing” through provision of subsidised transport system and the culture of paying their monthly salaries as and when due, Enyimba frowned at the way some private enterprise owners treat their workers. According to him, some of them “treat their workers as slaves.”

He advised such defaulters to repent from their evil ways while citing that every successful business across the world puts its workers first.

He enjoined workers to learn to work with their whole heart, exercise regularly and eat right. He also charged them to eschew idle talk while at their workplace and ensure they earn their keep.

He said he “especially remembers the workers, more so those who work the 9am to 5pm; those who have to live on minimum wage.”

He urged them to learn to make their work a passionate contribution to the course of the society, advising them to “exercise and eat right, minimise wasteful and negative conversations at the workplace and earn your keep.”

He enjoined captains of industry to borrow a leaf from the Anambra state government which provided subsidised transportation for its workers, contending that employees cannot have the loyalty of their workers or be assured of sustaining their business empires if they have the habit of ignoring their workers’ welfare if they fail to ensure fair and equitable salaries and the prompt payment of same.

Enyimba added that “the most successful business owners in the world put their workers first.”
