Isn't this beautiful

Keeping to his promise in a tweet he made in 2017, a Nigerian man and Twitter user Editi Effiong, returned to his alma mater in Akwa Ibom State, a school he attended in 1992 to build a world class computer lab.

His tweet in 2017 read;

I attended this primary school in 1992. Will be returning to build a computer lab for the kids in 2018. Excited.

However few hours ago, the Nigerian man who shared photos of the starter pack computer lab for his alma mater, wrote;

Starter pack for the two rooms, with shared computers. In a few months, each child will have a computer to themselves.

Starting today, our lab will be open, providing computer lessons and practice to 400 kids. Can’t wait to see how far we go from here.

You don’t have to grow up. 10 years ago, I borrowed my mum’s desktop PC, my laptop, got a couple of friends, and partnered with local church to teach about 100 kids to use computers for the first time. Start where you are, with what you have.

In 2017 too, Akin Aboyade Cole, of 1959 Set of Lagos Baptist Academy, Obanikoro, Lagos State, fully savoured the joy of giving back to ones alma mater during the inauguration of a multi-million naira resource centre he donated to the school.

The facility named “MabelMoses Aboyade Cole ICT and e-Learning Centre,” was donated in memory of his deceased parents. The e-learning centre is not only open to the school community, but also to the outside world as it can be used for conferences, seminars, workshops and even for the computer-based test (CBT) examination conducted by some examination bodies including the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

He said the event is a quick reminder to the students, school proprietors, governments and all people of goodwill that the business of education is one that concerns all.

“It is part of the strategic interventions we are planning to do as old students to encourage all to rally round and lend support to the orderly development of learning in schools. And we think if we use this as a point of contact to other educational institutions, we can then begin to rebuild our education institutions all over the country,” he said.
