Sincerely speaking, I hate how Lagos is coveting all these development when every regions supposed to enjoy d dividend of good governance.

It'll only make Lagos an urban sprawl if economic prowess is vested in Lagos alone cos more n more people will continue to migrate to Lagos en-masse.

A sensible federal govt supposed to encourage economic activities in every region.
It's a state govt project...

There're 2 main reasons why the seaport business in Lagos thrives; (1) The coastal water is deep so it supports large ships (2) Lagos is 10 times safer/secure, that's why even if you were a businessman from Rivers, you will opt to rather bring in your goods through Lagos.

Akwa-Ibom also has deep coastal waters, Akwa-Ibom is safe/secure and Akwa-Ibom state is the richest state in Nigeria in terms of allocations; so my real worry here is, how come the Ibaka seaport which got approved ages ago is still a mirage even with all the money Akwaibom state has?

Thanks!

I heard that the Dangote Refinery is also a major boost for needing the port for direct exports without further pressure on Apapa Wharf.

Truth is Southwest Nigeria is always a conducive environment for investments because of the culture of a high social justice system. This means that all peoples irrespective of tribe religion or gender, feel more at home in the region, hence the high attraction of investments.

However, the day other regions imbibe this same culture as the Yorubas, who defend the weak and protect visitors as a culture, then the population needed to drive business along with the investments (based on perceived security) would follow gradually!

Akpabio budgeted billions for Ibaka deep seaport every year with not even bush clearing or fence erected.

Meaning Akpabio pocketed billions every year.

Stop blaming Lagos state for doing what other states and their crooked, corrupt and lazy governors refused to do

Lagos city( Not Lagos State) was capital until 1991 and up till 1999 the IGR was 6 billion naira a year.

The "plan" was for Lagos State to rot and decay but thanks to Tinubu iit is where it is today. It is not luck at all as it is much better now than it was when Lagos City was Capital.

So having 10 states on the sme level as Lagos will not happen by luck otherwise Akwa Ibom, Delta ,Rivers should be miles ahead by now . The truth is those places have been governed by men without ideas who surrounded himself with empty headed yes men whereas Tinubu surrounded himself with people much smarter than himself.

Today Bbatunde Fowler has achieved the feat of greater revenue from tax at the FG level than oil revenue for 3 years in a row.

I beg to differ. You cannot compare Lagos to those places you mentioned.
Lagos is the economic capital of Nigeria. The major financial hub for West Africa. All the major financial institutions have their head quarters in Lagos, so they have are ahead others.

But the issue is that Lagos is just a small part of Nigeria. There is a lot of focus on the state.

Other parts of Nigeria should wake up because having only Lagos is not good

Even the most developed cities in the world are not living in Isolation of busy traffic. The ability to manage the traffic is what stands them out which Lagos is emulating through creating the Lastmas, BRT, new roads networking and others. Its easier to criticize from far.
The traffic in Lagos is many levels above average and one of the worst in the world. There efforts to ameliorate the situation no doubt. What is happening right now is reactionary. They need to plan ahead. We have the opportunity to correct the wrongs of Apapa and much of Eti Osa lg. Lekki phase one lacks any sort of town planning and road network is bad. Having only one major road for the Lekki Epe area is bad planning for a start.

If the state govt knew what they were doing Lagos would not be so congested with insane traffic. It seems people have settled for the way things are and cannot think outside the box. Do a comparison of km of roads with other major cities with less population and see that Lagos is lagging. Fore sight and expertise in city planning is lacking.

1. The single largest public works transportation project in Africa at the moment is in Lagos state, Nigeria aka 10 lane Badagry express, BRT access, Lagos Metro Rail.

2. There are 4 major world class Terminals under construction as we speak, plus the already commissioned Ikeja Terminal to ease trafic.

3. At least 2 Major flyovers are under construction and many already commissioned.

4. Many laybys are under construction and many already commissioned

5. Lagos Cable car is still on track.

All together, we are talking about multi billion dollar transportation investments.

Why many of you try to form knowledge and end up sounding ignorant beats me.

I am definitely aware of all the projects you have stated. These are great efforts for which the net result would be to improve traffic flow across the state. But it is still a drop in an ocean and the state needs to do more.

The focus here is strictly about planning ahead in regards good road networks and proper city planning. Lagos is yet to get with the program.

We saw what Yoruba people are capable of during regional administration when all the SW built and commissioned all the first TV station, first Stadia, first skyscraper, Nigeria's main industrial estates like Ikeja, Apapa, Matori, Ilupeju, Mushin and Oluyole industrial estates.

Our main advantage is our communal culture and ETHOS, something the rest of the country doesn't have.

Nigeria and abolition of regionalism slowed us slowed us down .

Dangote refinery the icing on the cake for the SW, I see Lagos and the SW's IGR shooting through the roof with strong industrial and manufacturing activities all over the SW.

You initially opined as if they are not doing anything about the traffic situation in Lagos state when in fact they are spending more on transportation than the entire budget of many states and even some Africa countries.

There's little the government can do about what's already on the ground about planning, maybe you are suggesting that they bulldoze all the houses in Lagos state and rebuild from scratch.

If you have better and fantastic ideas per what they should be doing to better the traffic situation in Lagos state, why not list your ideas and let's here it instead of the criticisms without your own so called good ideas.

If we had say, 10 states operating on the same level as Lagos state, things would have been a bit better in Nigeria
I doubt that......for one Lagos is not running at close to 20% of its capabilities.

Two the little the other states have what do they use it for?......see the likes of the oil producing states with their revenue and a significantly lesser population what do they have to show?

Can you know more than the state government? Just a month ago over 200 roads were commissioned in Lagos state. To enlighten you more, more flyover bridges are daily built in Lagos. When Lekki sea port is completed, it will totally take away the pressure from the present Apapa port. Bearing in mind lekki and Apapa ports are not situated in similar direction/ locations.
You are not entirely wrong. But try abd reason with me on what I posted
