According to the report on Sport’s website, the journalists of TV station 7, which transmitted the game, criticized trainer Diego Maradona for not advising beforehand that Messi would not be playing because “much of the public attended the stadium to see Leo.”

Even without Messi, Argentina thrashed Canada, winning 5-0, [/b]with goals scored by Maxi Rodríguez (2), Di María, Tevez, and Agüero.

Leo Messi’s name was chanted throughout the stadium by the 60,000 fans when it was announced over the loudspeaker. Although he was not in the starting lineup, Messi was on the bench with his team to watch the match.

All these amateurs making comments about ball. Mourinho should have enlightened you already. Tactics rule. Messi is just one man and has not been at his best for Argentina. And he has that drug-addict Maradona as coach. So stop worrying and watch how we would destroy them just as Bolivia did in qualifying. I believe

i will nt be surprise if we did not perform well in the warm up matches, after all during France 98 friendlies we were beaten 5-0 by Holland but our opening match we thrash Spain.we should nt expect much 4rm then.as for Argentina defecting Canada,Canada is not a football nation.when we talk about ice hockey and the rest kudos to them but not footie.playing Saudi Arabia is better than playing Canada. cheesy

Mr Lagerback is saying what his employers at the Glass House, and indeed many Nigerians want to hear. Let's wait and see if our dear Coach will return to Nigeria after the world cup.

I can't stop imagining how Nigerian defence line will fare against the onslaught of MESSI, AGUERO, MILITO, DI MARIA and TEVEZ. Chineke, mere umu gi ebere (Jehovah, have mercy on your children)! grin

Without further delay, I suggest NFF should send her "wise men" TO BEG ARGENTINA to take it easy with us in South Africa, IF NOT , (just joking)!

On a more serious note, I do not see our team beating Argentina or even picking up a draw. I am only praying and fasting for a BEARABLE SCORELINE.
Re: Argentina Should Worry About Us – Lagerback by Jyde22(m): 4:29pm On May 25, 2010
The only solution to the Super Chickens getting barbecued  by Argentina in South Africa is adopting the Special one's (Mourinho) tactics, which @ most will get us a draw or a slim loss. Only if only Yobo & Shittu would play like Lucio & chivu though grin
Re: Argentina Should Worry About Us – Lagerback by Pastormat(m): 5:52pm On May 25, 2010
Why can't we as Nigerians believe in our own team? Anyway, june 12 is just by the corner. Those of you who are Thomas Didymus will be surprise. Up Eagles, up Nigeria.

I dun tire for this kind Nigerian fans sef. You see Nigerian fans Solidly supporting Inter against Bacar, but cant jst give their new coach a benefit of doubt. B4 CAN 2010, Amodu told us not to expect a miracle, discouraging the fans and players even b4 the tournament. Now we have a coach who is putting our hope high, and to boost the players morals in facing Argentina, yet we complain instead of supporting him. Football has gone beyond the number of stars playing in the team, but how technical is the coach to make use of what he have. We all saw it in Inter-barca match.

After watching the saudi game; am not too sure of Lagerback's competence?
Re: Argentina Should Worry About Us – Lagerback by Olaolufred(m): 8:46am On May 26, 2010
After watching the saudi game; am not too sure of Lagerback's competence?

You can't base competence on Testing players to determine a 23-Man Squad.

I think the best Time to doubt Lagerback's competence is after playing North Korea.

Why? because that is when he would have made his final 23-man. And have determined his First Eleven.

Did he use his best legs against Saudi Arabia? No.
Osaze can never be in team B.

So the man must give everyone a chance b4 his final decision is made.

Look at it this way,

If he guess out the best 11 and use them to win matches,

how will he knows who make the second 11.

Remember, most matches are won not just by the 1st 11, but from the bench.

So, keep cool and reserve judgement till the facts are substantial.

Don't murder a suspect till his case is concluded.

Thanks sooooooooooo much.

Re: Argentina Should Worry About Us – Lagerback by sevo(m): 12:15pm On May 26, 2010
oga snakova, from wat u wrote earlier u only talked about messi.is he the only lethal player in the argentine squad?argentina should be worried with wat we played yesterday in the friendly game.argentine beat canada 5 nut without the almighty messi.u also made mention of mourinho"s tyactics. mourinho succedded in using that tactics becos he has the players in maicon, zannetti to do the job of holding messi. who do we have? na yobo and shittu u wan use play mourinho tactics?

NOW NA WHO BE D AMATUER?
Re: Argentina Should Worry About Us – Lagerback by Eche1(m): 12:31pm On May 26, 2010
Why should Nigeria not worry about the southern american don't u see the likes of d.milto, messi and aguero stop that yarning and give us a win pls thats all we want and not too much talks
Re: Argentina Should Worry About Us – Lagerback by Olaolufred(m): 3:48pm On May 26, 2010
I do not accept negativity. Canada was in World Cup once (1986).
Saudi Arabia is comming to its fith World Cup. (1994 to date).
We may not win Canada with 5-0 margin. But sure will win.
However, all Lagerback did now is to know who is not going to make the Team.
And Nigerians had seen people who should not fly to S/A.
Our First 11 will surface against North Korea in the Last friendly.
Let us not crucify this man yet.
The time is very short. and i think concentration is what he need now.

Re: Argentina Should Worry About Us – Lagerback by comoros: 2:16pm On May 28, 2010
Where was Messi, Tevez, Aguero and Milito when Bolivia white-washed Argentina 6-1 during the World Cup qualifiers? Everyone seems to be talking about the Argentines, but have forgotten that they currently have an untested coach, worse than our own Amodu. If Argentina has the best players and the wrong coach, then there's little they can do as they will definitely have selection problems. Even Brazil lost to Bolivia during the WC qualifiers, yet Bolivia failed to qualify. The game of football is 11 men against 11. I think we should give our team the necessary support, unlike majority of the people back in Argentina who do not even support Diego Maradona. Javier Zanetti and Esteban Cambiasso of Inter Milan played Barcelona and Lionel Messi to a stand still in the Champions League, yet the Argentine coach dropped them. What more coulda coach ask for in defensive midfielders?? BOTTOMLINE: Argentina is good but have a bad coach and should not be feared by Nigeria for any reason.

Nigeria shd worry abt Argentina!

people!!!!!!! nigeria drew the saudis 0-0 and that was with the fringe players oh!!!!!! did you see spain with their A-class players?? THAT is wat you call being humbled. they would have won spain if they had better defence. please watch this ----------->
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UaRQaXID9Lo

BY THE WAY: if not for illorente who scored in the 91th minute, it wud have been 2-2.

which is better 0-0 (with fringe players) OR 2-2 (with possible world cup winners)??

the answer is obvious. so STOP complaining about the nigeria players please. after all, they did well against colombia!

Thank you! grin
