'Play it down': Trump admits to concealing the true threat of coronavirus in new Woodward book - with tapes

https://edition.cnn.com/2020/09/09/politics/bob-woodward-rage-book-trump-coronavirus/index.html

President Donald Trump admitted he knew weeks before the first confirmed US coronavirus death that the virus was dangerous, airborne, highly contagious and "more deadly than even your strenuous flus," and that he repeatedly played it down publicly, according to legendary journalist Bob Woodward in his new book "Rage."

"This is deadly stuff," Trump told Woodward on February 7.
In a series of interviews with Woodward, Trump revealed that he had a surprising level of detail about the threat of the virus earlier than previously known. "Pretty amazing," Trump told Woodward, adding that the coronavirus was maybe five times "more deadly" than the flu.

Trump's admissions are in stark contrast to his frequent public comments at the time insisting that the virus was "going to disappear" and "all work out fine."
The book, using Trump's own words, depicts a President who has betrayed the public trust and the most fundamental responsibilities of his office. In "Rage," Trump says the job of a president is "to keep our country safe." But in early February, Trump told Woodward he knew how deadly the virus was, and in March, admitted he kept that knowledge hidden from the public.
"I wanted to always play it down," Trump told Woodward on March 19, even as he had declared a national emergency over the virus days earlier. "I still like playing it down, because I don't want to create a panic."
If instead of playing down what he knew, Trump had acted decisively in early February with a strict shutdown and a consistent message to wear masks, social distance and wash hands, experts believe that thousands of American lives could have been saved.

Republican tactic to divert the blame and responsibilty from Trump to Biden

Karl Rove Goes Off on Epic Rant Over Disastrous Coronavirus Response of…Trump’s Rival: ‘What Did Joe Biden Know and When Did He Know It?’

https://www.mediaite.com/election-2020/karl-rove-goes-off-on-epic-rant-over-disastrous-coronavirus-response-oftrumps-rival-what-did-joe-biden-know-and-when-did-he-know-it/

On a day when the political landscape was rocked by damning revelations from Rage, Bob Woodward’s new book, about President Donald Trump admitting that he lied to the public about the deadly risks of the coronavirus, GOP political strategist Karl Rove delivered an epic, five minute-long rant on Fox News about the disastrous, dishonest response to the pandemic…by Joe Biden.

Appearing Wednesday night on the friendly confines of Fox’s primetime show, Hannity — and just moments before the eponymous host interviewed Trump by phone — Rove pulled out his trademark whiteboard to try to prove that real negligence on Covid-19 was perpetrated by the man who was not leading the country at the time and not privy to real-time, national security and public health assessments from the U.S. intelligence community. Instead of addressing the bombshell details in Woodward’s book, Rove went on offense and attacked the perceived strength of the GOP rival, a tactic he famously deployed while George W. Bush’s campaign architect.

“Karl, it’s interesting, because he’s been able to hide in a basement bunker, he comes out, puts out his head, says a few things, but he really has got this whole other army in front of him,” host Sean Hannity claimed, reprising a well-worn Trump campaign talking point about the media. “Pretty much 99%, 99.9% of the media, he is their favorite candidate, so they are doing the work for him, aren’t they?”

“Well, yeah, but he went over the top today,” Rove said in response. “The fact that the media didn’t call him to account or make — I have three points I want to make.”

Then Rove pulled out his whiteboard and ran through a list of Biden’s blistering comments from today as well as many going back to January, when the Democratic presidential candidate wrote a prescient op-ed that both warned of a possible Covid outbreak and that Trump was unprepared to handle it.

“First of all, I was intrigued by his rhetoric in his speech,” Rove said. “He said ‘The president failed to do his job on purpose.’ That is to say, the president wanted people to die, he wanted them to get sick, and he did it on purpose. [Biden] said, this is ‘a life and death betrayal.’ I mean, that is really over the top.”

But Trump was heard on tape earlier on Wednesday telling Woodward: “I wanted to always play it down” to the public even after privately admitting to the journalist that the virus was “deadly stuff.”

Rove, however, ran through a list of critiques about Not-President Biden’s never-executed plans to deal with the ongoing outbreak, which has claimed more than 190,000 American lives so far.

McEnany defends Trump after Woodward book claims he said coronavirus 'deadly,' despite publicly downplaying it

Woodward book: Trump privately called COVID-19 ‘deadly’ early on, boasted of secret weapons system

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany defended President Trump on Wednesday after a book by journalist Bob Woodward claimed Trump said he knew the coronavirus was “deadly” but went to great lengths to downplay the virus in public.

“When you are facing insurmountable challenges, it is important to express confidence, it is important to express calm,” McEnany told reporters in a briefing from the White House.

“He makes clear that he doesn’t want to see chaos, by the way, which is the second part of the quote which you failed to read,” she continued, addressing a reporter who had read part of the quote.

“The president just days after having this discussion with Bob Woodward, said this from this podium, on March 30, he said, ‘I do want them to stay calm, we are doing a great job, if you look at the individual statements they are all true, stay calm, it will go away but it's important to stay calm,’” the press secretary said. “So this president does what leaders do -- good leaders -- it’s stay calm and resolute at a time when you face an insurmountable challenge.”

You are a specialist in stroking your ego and writing rubbish.

There is a super rich upper class in Nigeria. Those 20% who own houses in London and New york.

You want to talk macro economics, do you not see that Nigerias population, weak regulations, cheap labour and weak taxation gives rise to super profits.

Let's talk numbers

1. Blacks are financially underrepresented and disadvantaged in America. Earning twice less than Asian and whites when their average household incomes are compared

2. Nigeria is at least 90% black out of 200 million. The usa is 14% black of 330 million. There are more blacks in Nigeria.

3. There is a super rich upper class in Nigeria. Those that send their children to schools in Europe and North America. An estimated 20% of the Nigerian population.

4. Nigeria has oil billionaires, farming billionaires, construction billionaires. Nigeria is a big country and any business done on an interstate level is big. Do you know that if you own a ginger exporting business, you are a millionaire soon to be a billionaire?

5. Many of the successful blacks in the usa are even Nigerian

A withered carrot would beat you in an IQ test. If we add a watermelon to the mix, it's game over - lightyears difference.

By the current statistics, about 82 million Nigerians live on a dollar a day which already doubles the total number of black in America.

There are just 29,500 dollar millionaires in Nigeria out of the 200 million Nigerians.
https://www.theguardian.com/news/2019/jan/16/kerching-400000-new-dollar-millionaires-created-in-2018#:~:text=There%20are%20currently%2029%2C500%20millionaires,fastest%20growing%20at%2012.5%25..

1.9 percent of black households are millionaires. https://www.statista.com/statistics/1125808/us-families-millionaire-share-ethnicity/
With average black household put at 5 people, that would be 40 million blacks in America divided by the total number persons per household( 5). 40 million divided by 5 is 8 million households. 1.9 percent of 800,000 is 152,000 black millionaires.

There are 152,000 black millionaires in America.

Was Trump the one that conducted the study of the Hydroxychloroquine on Corona virus?
Or did Trump invent the drug?
No he didn't invent the drug since he's far too ignorant for that. He just ignorantly touted it as a cure despite knowing nothing about it and against all evidence and knowledge of those who do, and some on here believed him.

So you are saying The french doctor (Didier Raoult) made his conclusions without clinical trials on real patients?

Whether it's controversial or not, do your research on a topic before you start looking someone that is smart by half, and am sure you will confirm this by saying hydroxychloroquine has been killing people for years.

Real patients? I'm certain you researched this. Lol!

French doctor who championed hydroxychloroquine to explain his actions to lawmakers
Issued on: 24/06/2020 - 15:51

French doctor and virologist Didier Raoult, whose use of malaria medication hydroxychloroquine at a treatment for Covid-19 has attracted worldwide attention and controversy, was to respond to questions of a parliamentary committee investigating France’s response to the epidemic.

The inquiry of 32 lawmakers from different political parties was launched last month to “learn lessons” about France’s handling of the Covid-19 epidemic.

After looking into face masks, the panel was to turn to hydroxychloroquine, a malaria medication championed as a treatment for Covid-19 by Raoult, who was to respond in late afternoon.

What we want to understand from Mr. Raoult is how he managed to follow a policy of mass testing in Marseille”, a city which had “mortality rates well beneath” those elsewhere in the country, said right-wing lawmaker Damien Abad on Tuesday.

Raoult, who heads the infectious diseases department of the university hospital in Marseille, became widely known to the public inside and outside France by promoting hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for Covid-19 in late February, just before the epidemics were taking off in Europe.

He has proved a divisive figure in media, cultivating a shaggy-haired, anti-establishment persona with a penchant for controversial remarks, claiming in early February the coronavirus was “not so mean” and subsequently assuring there would be no second wave of infection.

Hydroxychloroquine

Raoult’s claims about hydroxychloroquine are derived from two small studies combining the derivative of the chloroquine molecule, used to treat lupus and malaria, with antibiotic azithromycine.

The doctor said in late February the drug was “probably the least expensive and simplest way to treat the coronavirus”.

The claims have met with mixed reviews among scientists and health officials, with some heaping praise on Raoult and others objecting that the molecule’s efficiency has not been proven and that it could engender dangerous side effects.

United States President Donald Trump and Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro have defended the medication and Trump once declared he was taking hydroxychloroquine as a preventative measure.

French President Emmanuel Macron said he was “convinced [Raoult] is a great scientist” after meeting the doctor in early April and called on rigorous trials of the treatment.

But France banned use of the drug as a treatment for Covid and the World Health Organization (WHO) suspended trials in May, following the publication of a study in medical journal The Lancet that suggested hydroxychloroquine posed risks of heart problems.

But the WHO reversed its decision after experts poured doubt on the findings and the journal withdrew the study when its authors declined to provide its data sets.

Raoult has continued defending the treatment in the days leading up to his appearance before the inquiry.

“I treated more than 3,700 patients with this medication, with 0.5 percent mortality and no cardiac toxicity,” he told Le Parisien newspaper in an interview published Tuesday. “What more do you want?”

Raoult also said he believed a large part of French citizens are already immune to the disease caused by the new coronavirus.

“My hypothesis is that part of the population was naturally immunised against Covid before the start of the epidemic,” he told newspaper Le Parisien, but said he had no idea why there seemed to be an estimated “40 to 70 percent” rate of natural immunity.

“What is sure, is that by speaking about natural immunity, I’ll be set on fire by the laboratories working on vaccines,” he told the paper.

In regards to efforts to develop a vaccine, Raoult expressed doubt: “It is statistically improbably that a vaccine will be available” at this point, he said.

On authors of two recent studies published in British review Recovery and French revue Discovery claiming the treatment is ineffective: “They are ignoramuses” who either gave patients too much or too little of the drug. “Had they asked my opinion, they might have been more effective,” Raoult said.

Asked about critics saying he published too often to be credible: “Do you ask Mozart did what he did? I’ll add that in addition to 150 publications per year, I published 10 books at the same time. We are not all equal. In this country, we love to decapitate people.”

1. They are anti-mask
2. They are staunch covid19 deniers
3. They always support police when the police kills a black man. George Floyd for example- they were anti-police until the backlash was global.
4. They are so against government owned healthcare. Conservative americans are the only people in the developed world that are against government provided healthcare.
5. They believe that America is the best country in the world.

If trump said it, its true because #WWG1WGA,

You are using credible sources abi? You are using the uk guardian to estimate Nigerian wealth. Lol.

Let me give you an example of how many fail to understand how rich Nigerians are and how statistics for Nigeria are meaningless-

There is an igbo man that owns one of the largest transport companies in Nigeria. What British and American statistics will tell you is that his business is worth 6 million dollars. What they didnt know is that he has acres of land in the village that has never been valued until the government contracted it for industrual purposes and farming to the tune of 500 million naira and also a further slice of 70 million 8nvestment in the project. The British also will not count his investments in Ghana, Turkey and UK.

In short, your reliance on the uk guardian to give you accurate statistics on Nigerian wealth is flawed.

Even think about it 30,000 millionaires out of 200 million people makes no sense. That is only 0.015 percent of Nigerians have 450 million naira as their net worth.

A successful trucking business with 10 trucks can make you 50 million naira a month.

Dumbass..you are not even ashamed. Which one is editing Wikipedia professionally again?
..your mates are writing codes and programs for that same wiki and getting paid handsomely for it, while you are here celebrating editing skills of a grade 2 pupil on Wikipedia. grin

So what was the bet for? Is it hidden knowledge that Wikipedia is crowd sourced info?

Was Trump the one that conducted the study of the Hydroxychloroquine on Corona virus?
Or did Trump invent the drug?
No Trump was not the one that conducted the study of the Hydroxychloroquine on Corona virus invented the drug, but he was the one that prescribed it for the cure and treatment of covid19.

Disstroy, I've posted this here because spambot has banned me in Foreign because of my response to you. I will be addressing your lies and post as soon as its lifted.

All you showed with your edit is the obvious and well known fact, which is, anyone can edit a wikipedia page and insert silly comments. As you can see, your post did not "scale through the approval process", and my edit as soon as I became aware of it, was to show it didn't. But I guess in your typical magatrumpist way of unreasoning you failed to notice the approval process is me, your peer in this instance, and think because you posted it it had been approved, which it obviously hasn't.

salford1, feedthenation, Lordreed. I'd be grateful if you quote and post this on the thread so this cretin don't go jumping up and down promoting buda's demise.
