Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State has told operators of football betting platforms, NaijaBet, operating in the state to pack their loads and leave.

The governor stated this on Sunday while speaking at the Borno State-owned BRTV 14th Annual Ramadan Lecture held in Maiduguri and monitored by our reporter in the state.

Governor Shettima had also lamented on the negative effect NaijaBet is having on the social and spiritual life of youths in the state. Dailycorrespondents

Good move. The craze is getting worse than codeine and tramadol.

It's Neither Here Nor There

Football Betting Is A Multimillion Naira Industry On Its Own Which Thrives Well In More Prosperous Countries

It's Definitely Not The Cause Of Social Malaise In Nigeria

Rather Than Banning It, Government Should Rather Focus On Better Regulation As Well As Engaging Youths Productively

Those Who Are Gainfully Employed Don't Spend All Day At Betting Centres

Telling them to leave means you are about to sack over 500 employees. Hope you get what I mean?

Now, what work will these over 500 about to be sacked employees do?
You have rendered them useless.

Also, these over 500 employees, each have their own customers they buy things from, like food, cloths, shoes, chains, necklace and so on

You not only sacked over 500 employees but also their customers.

This is an economy plan. No wonder we have competent leaders.

They only think about the situation at the moment but never thought of the long run.

Let's see how it goes then.

Finally,to be candid am not in support to gambling, but let's not make it very abstruse for those that are already employed.

the same mumu that gave out shoe shinning kit as empowerment? Islam and illiteracy is the bane of human development. Well he should also ban the one online. Shege wawa kawai
If Nigeria must move forward we must restructure or disengrate.

Some leaders love leaving the masses in illiteracy. I wouldn't blame him, a non-erudite following is easy to control.
