USA and the western world are now splashing money like crazy in Africa as they are afraid of Chinese investors, dumb americans una think sey na still colonial era we dey abi? I would rather do business with the Chinese than these westerners with their "colonialist" mindset, dem give you 1 naira, dem go collect 1million back.
Are you sure about this?

Can you compare the quality of staff welfare in chevron or Texaco to any Chinese company in Nigeria?

You complain that the Chinese companies are inhumane, yet you still want them to further entrench themselves and enslave more Nigerians.

Colonial era? Weren't the USA themselves colonized?

The USA was a colony of British settlers, they were not colonized by the British as the USA was established by the British settlers who at the time made up the 13 colonies, the american revolution was a result of the British refusing to pay tax to their Queen in the UK (Taxation by representation was the saying of the revolutionists).

The truth of the matter is that we have always had investors willing to pump in billions of dollars into our economy but greed and corruption have always chased them away. It's either the PDP government was demanding for bribes or the President and his ministers wanted a cut.
Jonathan and Adoke, his Justice Minister, took their own cut in the Malabu oil scam before approving the deal. Atiku wanted a cut in the Siemens deal before lying to congressman, William Jefferson, that he would facilitate approval for the deal as VP and chair of the National council on Privitization. James Ibori wanted Econet Wireless to bribe him in millions of dollars in order to sustain Delta State shares in Econet.
All these things are public knowledge and can be further researched online. I wonder why then on earth anyone would want us to go back to that PDP era of graft and grand corruption. I just wonder!

I'm very interested in why a private company would want to invest its own money in a public project in Nigeria without tolling or concession. How do they get their money back. This sounds very bogus for a company founded in 2010.

It's not today that govt started signing agreements.

Anybody who believes that an American coy will actually spend $10B on a railway is living a pipedream.

It will take 50yrs to recover the $10B so we know the news is all for 2019

This is a 90's myth that no longer holds true today. Chinese engineering standards are almost at par or even slightly ahead of the expensive and overtly conditional American engineering standards. American companies are actually the ones that rope in crazy conditions in the contracts they sign in developing countries.

Shah Mathias, the Founder of Ameri Metro Inc, based in the United States, said on Monday that the company was ready to invest over $10 billion in the coastal rail project from Lagos to Calabar and Calabar to Port Harcourt.

He told journalists after paying a courtesy visit on the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi in Abuja that the project will be fully funded by the company if approved by the federal government.

Mathias said that the company has done various rail projects in the United States, and have the resources and capacity to handle rail projects in Nigeria.

“We are here to do a presentation on the high speed rail and other sustainable projects; our goal is to build a more modern rail, which we can start as soon as possible.

“We are ready to invest 100 per cent, we have been told that the project is over $10 billion, we are going to build new rail track, bring in locomotives.

“We are looking at the Lagos-Calabar coastal line and Port Harcourt, we are ready to take it over from the Chinese company since they have not been able to raise the money.”

Mr Mathias said that the company was focuses on the development of high-speed rail for passengers and freight transportation.
