The Minister of Health, Prof. Issac Adewole, has stated that the Federal Government is doing every possible to end the ongoing indefinite nationwide strike embarked on by Joint Helath Sector Union (JOHESU).

Speaking in an interview with newsmen on Saturday in Osogbo, Adewole said that Federal Government was not happy with the strike.

The minister said that the Federal Government was not sleeping in ensuring that the strike was called off as soon as possible.

“The JOHESU strike will soon be over. The Federal Government is doing everything possible to bring the strike to an end,” Adewole said.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Medial Association (NMA), Osun branch, has accused JOHESU members of harassing medical doctors at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife, Osun.

Dr Tokunbo Olajumoke, the Osun NMA Chairman, made the allegation at a news conference in Osogbo on Saturday.

He said JOHESU members in the hospital locked up critical facilities that the doctors needed to work with in order to frustrate the doctors.

Olajumoke, however, said that doctors would continue to do their jobs and render healthcare services to the people regardless of the JOHESU strike.

“The management of OAUTHC should without further delay provide adequate security to prevent the breakdown of law and order.
“Tentatively, ad hoc staff should be temporarily employed to assist in the smooth running of the hospital”, he said.

JOHESU goes on strike & the hospital continues to function but should the Doctor do likewise then all come to a grand stop.
Moral-the patient is in the hospital primarily to see the Doctor. However both need each other for efficient service delivery.
Pls let this egocentric fight stop. angry

You lied, NMA strike does not paralyze all services in the hospital. Except low inpatient services, Our physiotherapy outpatient clinics(Surgical/Orthopedic, paediatrics, medicine/neuro) are very busy and unaffected.

Bloody lies... All hospitals are likevgrave yards as we speak. In UNTH, as we speak physicians are currently in their private clinics but go to the media to promote propaganda that 'physicians are working so hospital are working' while they all in their houses and private clinics fighting Johesu online.
