Good morning fashion lovers. Pls I would like to know something from you all especially if you can sew or been to a fashion school before.

My girlfriend aside schooling also learnt tailoring but she's been clamouring to rebrand her skills and gaining more business perspective by going to a classic fashion school somewhere in Ikeja. She said she wanna learn the pattern drafting method where you have to draw/sketch before sewing.

My question is what are the benefits for undergoing such training apart from owning your own shop and machines and sewing to customers. What's the rebranding in the matter. Is it about displaying a show glass of readymade wears or how cus that's what she tells me and I don't seem to see just that as an added advantage. Guess she's not explaining it well. Pls I need your contributions. Thanks!

There are differences between a tailor and a fashion designer

Tailor piece materials together according to the sample you selected on the catalog
Fashion designer created those catalogs and can produce a dress that is unique

Ebuka dress was made by a fashion designer, the rest were made by tailors

Ok thanks.

But what else would one need apart from a shop and d machines?
Showcase, mannequin, good lighting, inverter system to power the energy bulbs when nepa strikes (1kva inverter and a battery is enough - better than Gen if you are not using AC and heavy duty turbo fans ) and finally a good social media account (Facebook, Instagram) to advertise to friends and friends of friends for free

Wow thanks. So it means there would definitely be some additional machines than the ones just tailors use.
