AFRIMA 2018: ANNUAL MUSIC AWARD OPENS FOR ENTRIES
It’s about that time of the year again when music is celebrated in Africa at the biggest music award, the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA).

Following the recent unveiling of calendar of activities for the 2018 edition of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) in Accra, Ghana, which included a courtesy visit to the President of Ghana, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo by officials of African Union, International Committee of AFRIMA and African music stars, entry submissions for the annual continental music awards opens today, Friday, May 25 in commemoration of Africa Day.

KIZZ DANIEL’S NAME CHANGE DOESN’T ABSOLVE HIM FROM COURT CASE – G-WORLDWIDE
Popular singer, Daniel Anidugbe, formerly known as Kiss Daniel, has changed his name to Kizz Daniel.

The singer made this known in an Instagram post during the week. He had put up a picture of the new name with the caption, “Moving forward. Call me Kizz Daniel.”

Shortly after Daniel made the post, several blogs reported that with the move, the singer was now free of all obligations to his former label, G-Worldwide Entertainment.

UBA PROMOTES HERITAGE WITH AFRICA DAY CELEBRATION
In line with its commitment to promote the African Culture and deepen its African footprints, United Bank for Africa (UBA) has joined the world to celebrate this year’s Africa Day.

The celebration which went on concurrently across all of its subsidiaries in Africa as well as in London, Paris and New York, had the underlying theme: ‘The Colours of Africa: Celebrating our Diversity.’ Staff members were dressed in colourful African attire displaying the cultural diversity of the United Bank for Africa.

There were dance troupes across the continent organised by UBA subsidiaries, where staff, clients and the public were entertained with African drums and cultural dancers.

BBNAIJA’S ALEX LAUNCHES YOUTUBE CHANNEL
Alex Asogwa, third runner-up of the just concluded Big Brother Naija reality show (BBNaija `Double Wahala’) known for her dancing and writing skills, has launched her YouTube channel; “Alex Unusual Empire.’’

Alex, 22, who is determined to keep her fans entertained, has also released a teaser on the channel.

In the video, the ex-housemate and Television personality preaches positivity., saying: “Peace and positivity is my priority”

WEINSTEIN TURNS HIMSELF IN TO NEW YORK POLICE STATION
Fallen Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein turned himself in to New York police on Friday to face sex crime charges, nearly eight months after his career imploded in a blaze of assault accusations and triggered the global #MeToo movement.

The former powerbroker — once the toast of Hollywood, whose films won scores of Oscars — is likely to be charged with raping one woman and forcing another into performing MouthAction, US media have reported.

The 66-year-old former studio boss walked into the downtown Manhattan police station shortly before 7:30 am (1130 GMT) wearing a pale button-down shirt, a blue sweater and a dark blazer before a mob of television cameras.
