The spirit has to do with everything in life, ur relationship with him determine the things he will reveal to you, if the HolySpirit was actually the person that reveals it to your Pastor, then its true, but of course you should also be aware that some Pastors claim to hear from the HolySpirit. So you gat to be careful, the best thing is for you to be able to hear from him directly. Finally, be it football or anything , the HolySpirit can be Involve!

God knows the end from the beginning, and he reveals the future to his Servants. But this is for a purposes. Soccer prediction are trivial so I doubt God would do that. To what end?

The Holy Spirit can reveal anything to God's children provided it will bring glory to God. Anything outside of that is not from Him. So, the question will be, how does this or how will this revelation of football outcome glorify God?. God does not support gambling!.
