The President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, has said that the greatest challenge that is facing the entire south-East is the twin issue of kidnapping and armed robbery.

The president made this known during the public presentation of the book titled, “Themes on Igbo culture, History and development,” at the Concord Hotel, Owerri on Friday.

The president, represented at the occasion by the Minister of Interior, Captain Emmanuel Iheanacho, pointed out that these criminals are living in the midst of the people.

According to him, if the hoodlums could easily be identified, the work of the security men in the country would be made easy.

The president maintained that one of the cardinal points of his administration was to ensure the security of lives and properties in the country.

On the issue of electoral reform, Dr. Jonathan explained that the present administration was not taking the matter lying low, adding that he would stop at nothing to ensure that the country had credible elections.

In his address at the event, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, said that it was well known by everybody in the country that without the Igbo race, Nigeria is not complete.

“I have the belief that this book shall certainly take us on an expedition on the ways of life of the Igbos,” he said.

Earlier in his address, the chairman, South-East council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Cletus Ilomuanya, said that the book was a must-read, not just by Nigerians, but also by all scholars of international history and those who wish to have a broad view of the Igbo culture, history and development.
