In recent times, the face unlock feature has gained more popularity among smartphone manufacturers.

Following Apple's inclusion of this feature in the iPhone X, and the inclusion of same in the Galaxy S9, OnePlus also decided to include the feature in the OnePlus 6, which was launched in May, 2018.

However, it appears that there is a way to cheat the system, especially on the OnePlus 6. Considering the fact that the technology used by OnePlus only works by determining the distances between various areas on a user's face and comparing these distances with the original scan, a simple photo printout of the user has been found to be able to unlock it.

OnePlus claims that the face unlock feature was mainly for convenience, and that it was not activated for sensitive apps such as those for banking. Owners are advised to use passwords, PINs or the fingerprint sensor for such apps.

I saw the video on youtube a few days ago, ecven though those guys didn't really show it on camera as the camera was directly facing the guy and not the phone to show us that the print out photo actually unlocked it. Some other guys have tried to replicate this without success,

However, Onplus 6 face ID (or any android face ID for that matter ) is not secure as most of them just use the front camera to scan the face. Even Oneplus have said it that their face ID is just for convenience and advised users to use the fingerprint or password for better security. This is unlike Iphone X that uses a couple of 3D sensors to scan the face. It also explains why OnePlus facial ID is extremely fast.

Can't fool iPhone X so easily.
