Chief Sunny Onuesoke, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) has thrown his weight behind the threat by the National Assembly to commence impeachment proceedings against President Muhammadu Buhari.

Onuesoke, in a statement released by him on Tuesday, said the president is long overdue for impeachment given his poor management of the affairs of the nation in the last three years.

He said: “If President Buhari is not impeached now, then I doubt if the 2019 general election is going to take place".

“If you look at the level of harassment by the national security forces of political opponents and innocent Nigerians, you will understand the presidency has lost control of the country and if care is not taken, the nation is currently drifting into anarchy and that will affect the unity of this country.

“From the looks of things within the three arms of government, you will find out that the only arm with power for now is the Executive,making NASS and the judiciary impotent and sterile.
