Fake News & Fact Check: The Supreme Court Didn't Order GTB To Pay Innoson N14bn by Daviddson(m): 6:22pm On Jun 07, 2018
Contrary to an earlier thread that the Supreme Court has ordered GTB Bank to pay Innoson Motors the sum of fourteen billion naira within 14 days, a simple fact check show that it was a fake news.

In 2014, an Appeal Court, sitting in Enugu ordered GTB to pay Innoson Motors the sum of five billion naira plus. Innoson appealed to the Supreme Court. What the apex court has now ordered is that the sum of N14bn which Innoson is now claiming instead of N5bn, should be paid to the court Registrar pending when the case will close and judgement is delivered. If at the end of the suit, GTB is found wanting, the money will go to Innoson Motors and if not, they will take back their money.

Innoson Motors, through their Twitter account made a bogus claim that the court ordered the money to be paid to them, which is totally false

Consequence: If GTB should bring this apparent twist of court judgement to the attention of the Court in their next sitting, Innoson stands a chance of being fined or imprisoned.

NB: Before you take this innocent fact check to be an "aafonja-ippob" fisticuffs, I'm neither.

I think when The Cable later found out it was a fake news, they deleted their tweet and the content on their website. Or maybe the previous OP just manipulated the website address. Try click on the link found on the other thread, and see that the story doesn't exist on their server.

I'm wondering, does the SC make an order in anticipation of its judgement?

I am not a yoruba moslem, so I am not a bittered soul.

June 12 holiday? If una get power to shut down Onitsha main market, Ariaria Int'l Mkt, Nnewi Market, Oil Mill in PH, New Market in Aba, Abakpa in Enugu, Shopping Centre Aba, then I will start to enjoy that holiday.

But if you are unable to do that, I will continue to close office only on May 30th.

The attention of GTBank has been drawn to false, mischievous and malicious statements circulating in the news and social media in respect of a purported directive by the Supreme Court of Nigeria to the Bank to make payments to one of its debtor Customers.

The Bank's Customers and the General Public are hereby kindly urged to disregard these false statements as nothing could be further from the truth. There was no directive or Order issued by the Supreme Court of Nigeria to the Bank to make any payment to any of its debtor Customers.

The Bank as a highly responsible corporate citizen will in accordance with its culture and tradition refrain from making comments about on-going litigation matters and will continue to focus on using legal means to recover its bad debts. It must be emphasised that the Bank remains undeterred in its recovery drive against recalcitrant debtors.

We again reiterate that there is no iota of truth in the falsehood being peddled by desperate and mischievous elements and the General Public should disregard same in its entirety.

The Bank remains committed to providing best-in-class customer experience to all its valued Customers.

We thank you for your continued support and patronage.

For the bank,
Erhi Obebeduo
Company Secretary.

I'm not a Igbo Christian too,so I'm not a bittered soul.

During the May 30 holiday that was declared by ipod in the south east, nobody had the power to shut down government office, banks,Onitsha main market, nnewi market, shopping centre aba,so why should anybody force people to close any if those places during June 12 democracy day?

On June 12,no government institution or banks, office or industry will open for business.

Igbo amaka people and fake everything.

Nairaland has really gone to the dogs.

Imagine such a big case and no known media outlet reports it except on a blog, yet nairaland shoveled it down out throats.

What a shame.

Typical of a yoruba moslem.

Still living in denial upon all the pictorial evidence, BBC, Vanguard, Tribune even carried the news.

Enjoy your June 12th. You are only happy because it was given to you by your caliphate masters. If it was by another person, yoruba moslem's terror gang MURIC would have written their useless letters rejecting it.

Sorry, you can be christian because it is not in our nature to asslick.
