Bayelsa State Government has finished up plans to hold town hall meetings across the state, as it proceeds with its wide commitment with the people on the implementation of the ongoing reforms agenda.

The State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, reported this in an announcement released to journalists on Tuesday in Yenagoa.


Iworiso-Markson clarified that the town hall meeting is a piece of the hearty sharpening ‎efforts of the government on the reforms agenda and will hold at the central station of the eight local government areas.

He additionally clarified that the town lobby gatherings will fill in as a component to address‎ veritable grievances and furthermore give chance to abused people to exploit and vent their worries and also ‎seek clarification where necessary.

As indicated by him the town hall meetings will start on June 11 at the Gabriel Okara Cultural Center in Yenagoa followed by Kolokuma/Opokuma, Sagbama and Ekeremor on June 13, 14 and 15 in Kaiama, Sagbama and Ekeremor main town.

Ogbia, Nembe, Brass and Southern Ijaw will have their own turn on June 16, 18, 19 and 20 in Ogbia main town, King Koko square Nembe and Oporoma.

For a fruitful facilitating of the town hall meeting, the Commissioner requested the help and joint effort of key partners, for example, experts of the eight local government councils, traditional rulers, chiefs, women and youth groups, labour union, civil society organizations, NGOs,faith based organizations and Bayelsans in general.

While guaranteeing of satisfactory security at all the venue of the meetings, the Information Commissioner cautioned those with questionable goal to remain clear or be prepared to face the law.

Iworiso-Markson who emphasized that the changes ‎will put Bayelsa State in great stead and properly position it on the path of sustainability, growth and development also informed that so far it has decreased the wage bill of the goverment, get rid of overaged and false work force,thereby creating vacancies for employment.
