NYSC.....

From the first day I got into tertiary education.
From the first note I took down.
I dreamt of khaki not car keys.
I dreamt of jungle boot not safety boot.
The stress of assignment, classwork, practicals and notes.
The stress of lecturers, cultist and class rep oppression, waking early and babe wahala.
My eyes were set on my goal.
My eyes foresee my final CGPA.
Gradually just like ije the journey was over.
Gradually the results were pasted.
Oh, how can there be so much mixed emotions in one place.
Oh, I almost fell off the required margin.
Then the wait started, online became my home.
Then the long awaited letter was sent with day to leave our homes.


On getting to my location my brain tries to locate someone it know.
Even if its a childhood enemy my brain tries to pick one familiar face.
The camp was filled with people hopefully graduates and security agencies.
Some individuals selling different things hopefully graduates would buy.
The stop and search process was taking too long by the uniform men.
Online documentation process was taking too long by the camp official.
I got a bed, a bunkmate and roommates by random selection.
Finally, i, my bunkmate and roommates went to get our first camp meal.
