* WHY DO MEN HAVE NIPPLES When it comes to women, it makes sense why they have nipples – evolution has placed the job of lactating infants to them; but, what about men? Why do they have nipples? Science tells us it is because everyone’s body is first developed as a female in the womb. In the first few weeks, the embryo develops in the caricature of the female. In fact, it takes the mother’s genes and develops some characteristics of the mother. At this stage, the reproductive organs, nipples and everything start developing in the embryo. To this point, gender doesn’t play a role. The organs develop indifferent to the gender. It is only after 8 prolonged weeks, when the Y chromosome kicks in and the feminine genes stop developing in the body. If this Y chromosome is not present, then obviously the child is female and she will grow and develop all organs as the female does. But if the Y chromosome is present, the clitoris will transform into a fully grown scrotum and penis, and then the female grown labia will fuse. So the fact is that primarily everyone in the womb is first a female. 8 weeks is a long time; and to develop the traits of the X chromosome up to that point means they are developing initially with the X chromosome. Later on, they develop with the traits of the Y chromosome, that is to say, if the Y chromosome is present in the offspring. This is why when the Y chromosomes kick in, the male nipples stop developing lactating qualities or post birth breast developmental qualities. So in a way, we can actually say that men not only have nipples, but actually those are underdeveloped breasts. Hence, it might be a common misconception that breast cancer occurs only in women, as it can happen in men as well. However, the incident of breast cancer in men is very less, as a mere 1% of the males may actually develop breasts when afflicted with breast cancer. 4 Likes 2 Shares

* JESUS LIZARD THAT WALKS ON WATER It would be a surprise for many people to know that there exist a species of lizards that can actually run on the surface of water. The name of the species is Basilisk Lizard, which is a skittish tree-dwelling lizard. When it is scared from any movement in its surrounding or wants to run away from any predator, it simply jumps into the water and runs across the surface of water. Many researchers have tried to find out the reason behind this amazing capability of the lizard. Several experiments and studying of the lizard were conducted. At the end, it was concluded that, lizard is able to run across water because of the immense force it uses from its limbs. This movement of the lizard is performed in three stages which are- the slap, the stroke and the recovery. During the slap stage, the lizard pulls its limbs up and moves them vertically downwards with immense speed. During the stroke stage, it used the power of its limbs to push itself across the water and in the last stage; it brings its limbs back to the starting point for repetition. All this happens at a great speed and that’s what keeps it above the water. The lizard usually does this only when it is scared; maybe the fear is what brings all the speed and power in the small creature. These lizards are skilled to remain underwater for up to 30 minutes. While on the water surface, they can sprint at a speed of 1.5 meters per second and with this speed they can approximately over a distance of 4.5 meters before sinking. Well, this little lizard is also known as ‘The Jesus Lizard’ as it is believed that Lord Jesus could walk on the water surface like this lizard. No other creature possesses such capability. * WORLD MOST DANGEROUS BIRD.. A bird with an unusual combination of Turkey and Ostrich named Cassowary is the most dangerous bird in the world. Cassowary is found in the jungles of Australia and New Guinea; visit the rainforest and you would see some of these scary birds. One look into the eyes of such birds and you would lose your soul to the pair that drags your soul deep inside the bird’s lustrous black body. When you look at this bird, you feel like it is wearing a black tuxedo with a pink bow. It has this huge thing placed on the top of its head, which makes you feel like it has been crowned; this crown is nothing, but an indication for the humans that here comes the most dangerous bird! On feeling danger, the bird kicks its victim so hard that it could greatly damage the victim’s bones. Its very strong and average of 12 centimeters long jaws are so sharp that it can tear anything into pieces. At the time of second world war, the soldiers of New Guinea were specially warned to steer clear of these birds but still many soldiers died because of the bird’s attack. One documented human death named Philip McClean was caused by a Cassowary on 6 April 1926. The bird cannot fly but can run with a speed of 50 km per hour. Such creatures have always been adored by the human race. There may have been a lot of such birds around the globe, but according to the recent study and estimation, only 1500 of such birds are found in different parts of the world. When you visit the rainforest, there are a lot of signs put up for the tourists, so that they make sure that they don’t hit any of such birds (or the other animals) and take their lives under their wheels. * THERE ARE MORE COWS IN INDIA THAN THERE ARE CARS IN THE UNITED STATES.. There are more cows in India, than there are cars in the United States! Cows and cars– simply incomparable, isn’t it? But the comparison will now become interesting when we’ll talk about the fact that there are more cows in India than there are cars in the United States! It is a well known fact that cows are regarded as holy animals and have a high religious value in India. But what is less known is that India has the largest population of cows than any other country of the world! There are over 280 million cows in India! Now matching the same with the number of cars in the United States, precisely there were 246 million cars by the end of 2009, which is still less by 34 million when compared to the number of cows in India. To clarify how large a number this actually is, here also we have taken an instance of the USA, the population of cats and dogs in the United States combined is 171.1 million, which stands nowhere in contrast to the population of cows in India! Moreover, the USA has 90 million cows, that do not even make up even half of the total cows in India! Both the numbers of cows and the cars are continuously increasing in the United States but the count up of cows in India is increasing at a faster rate, and USA seems thousands of miles away from matching up with India. Equating with the world, India has more than a quarter, that is 28.9 % of the world’s total cow population! Today, India stands as the world’s largest dairy producer with more than 304 million cows and buffaloes which produced 112.5 million tonnes of milk in the year 2009-10. Furthermore, the car population in the USA as in 2012 was around 254 million which still couldn’t come to tie with the number of cows in India. ETHIOPIA HAS ONLY 13 MONTHS The country of Ethiopia has 13 months, celebrates New Year on September 11th. Calendars and dates are very commonly used merely for keeping track of days or to find out which day of the week a particular day falls on. Here is a fascinating fact about calendars that you probably didn’t know. It is quite an unknown that the whole world, except Ethiopia, has adopted the Gregorian calendar, a calendar constituting 365 days in a year and 366 days in a leap year. On the other hand, Ethiopia has accepted the Coptic Calendar, which is quite different from the Gregorian calendar. The Coptic Calendar has 13 months of which 12 months comprise of 30 days each, and a 13th month at the end of the year called the intercalary month usually has 5 days and 6 days in a leap year. Moreover, the Gregorian and Coptic Calendars are not the only calendars. There are 5 other types of calendars namely: the Chinese Calendar, the Hebrew Calendar, Balinese Pawukon, the Islamic Calendar and the Persian Calendar. Coming back to the point, because of the adaptation of the Coptic Calendar, the country of Ethiopia celebrates New Year on September 11th! This is because the Ethiopian Calendar, as stated above, follows the Coptic Calendar which was fixed to the Julian Calendar in 25 BC by Emperor Augustus of Rome with a start date of 29 August, thus establishing the New Year on this day. Here, September 11th is in accordance with the Gregorian Calendar; in other words, it is September 11th for the world except Ethiopia, where it is August 29, the New year. The relationship between the Ethiopian and the Gregorian calendars varies whenever the Gregorian calendar misses a leap year. The difference in year numbering is because of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church disagreeing with the Roman Catholic Church about when Christ was born. The calculation of time is also dissimilar in Ethiopia as hours are counted from dawn. So the next time, while on September 11th you are engaged in your routine schedule, Ethiopia will be celebrating New Year! 3 Likes

* ACCORDING TO ALBERT EINSTEIN, IF HORNEY BEES WERE TO DISAPPEAR FROM EARTH, HUMANS WOULD BE DEAD WITHIN 4 YEARS Normally, honey bees are known only for the fact that they produce delicious honey which has a great application in our daily lives. The greatest scientist Albert Einstein says that if honey bees disappear from earth, humans would be dead within 4 years! Let’s know why. Approximately one third of our food depends on insect pollination, majorly done by honey bees. So undoubtedly it can also be said that a world without honey bees would mean a world without fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. However, this is not very much possible that human beings would die within 4 years if honey bees disappear, as other insects might take over the pollination work done by the bees. Here are some adverse concerns if honey bees were eradicated from earth. If the farmers do not provide fields or orchards with enough honeybees for pollination, the whole harvest can fail.Honey bees are the only insects which produce the food eaten by humans. So, if honey bees disappear, results can be deteriorating.Fewer bees mean no almonds, less coffee and less alfalfa hay available to feed dairy cows.We may lose all the plants that bees pollinate and all of the animals that eat those plants. Which means a world without bees could struggle to sustain the global human population of 7 billion. As stated earlier, it is not pretty much probable that human beings would die within 4 years in the absence of bees, but the outcomes may prove as sabotage to the human life. However, bees are vanishing rapidly because of harmful pesticides and chemicals. This practice needs to be ceased so as to preserve human life and Mother Nature. 2 Likes
