Let us talk more on CORYZA disease, this is caused by heat, lack of ventilation and wet litters. Let us talk about those 3 causes of CORYZA: Heat: the height of the pen house must be high to avoid heat to act directly our birds. Good measurement for height of a pen house is 12-15ft high Lack of ventilation : 4 sides of the pen house must be opened for fresh air to go in and out, the air will blow off the heat and also resist the litters to get wet easily Wet litters: It is good to pack the litters of our birds at time due, we should it to get wet before packing and leaving to get wet will trigger the disease we called CORYZA. During this broiler season, let us ensure we treat coccidiosis from week 2 to week 6 because it is the most threat disease to broiler. Let us ensure we use quality drugs because it is not all drugs that are effective. And to those who want to stock new set of day old birds next Monday/Tuesday, kindly let us fumigate our pen house(s) between today and tomorrow in order to get rid of infections and diseases. Lately the level of the heat has been increasing in the southwest region of this country and I can not tell of other regions, I will put it to every farmer to create maximum ventilation for our brooded birds to avoid unwanted diseases caused by the heat.Those farmers having big birds at hand should avoid feeding there birds during the afternoon time in order to avoid sudden dead of birds during this hot weather. 2023 was very hard and harsh on poultry farmers in our great country Nigeria, I will put it to us not to over stock birds this year.
