Report has it that newly promoted premier league side Wolverhampton Wanderers have captured the signature of the Portuguese goalkeeper Rui Patricio on a four-year contract.

It is said that the veteran goalkeeper terminated his contract with Sporting CP before signing for Wolves.

The Portuguese goalkeeper, currently at the Russia 2018 World Cup, has joined the Premier league side on a free transfer.

He has penned down a four-year deal with Nuno Espirito Santo’s Premier League newcomers, waiting for international clearance which won’t be a problem.

Rui Patricio is his country’s No.1choice goalkeeper, who was among recording breaking team that won Euro 2016 competition, and his 70th cap came in the 3-3 draw in their World Cup opener against Spain last Friday.

The 30-year-old is set to take the number one role in place of their current choice John Ruddy when Wolves kick off their top fight campaign in August.

Patricio addition is Wolves’ second signing of the transfer window in a deal subject to international clearance. He will arrive after the world cup pending where Portugal will finish at the ongoing World cup tournament in Russia.

His arrivalto the Molineux follows that of Raul Jimenez, who joined on loan from Benfica last week. Patricio made 460 appearances for Sporting and kept 179 clean sheets, winning the Taca de Portugal twice and the Taca da Liga this past season.

Notwithstanding, his time at Sporting ended in chaos after he terminated his own contract leading the attack by some of the club fans at the end of last season after they missed qualifying for Champions League.

Due to his action, Sporting have opened legal campaign against Portuguese and other six players. While representing his Nation at the World Cup, Patricio will look to ensure Wolves avoid an immediate relegation to the Championship having won promotion in comfortably last season.

Wolves topped Championship with 99 points, finishing 9 points ahead of Cardiff City in second and 11 ahead of Fulham at the third-place, who were later promoted after they won the play-off final against Aston Villa
